An apparent drag race between Seattle Seahawks teammates Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch got out of hand Tuesday.

The drag race occurred right outside of the Seattle Seahawks’ practice facility on a public street, and it ended when Jackson crashed his black Corvette into a planter box and stop sign, according to TMZ Sports. The incident took place after practice.

I was confused by the photo and the stop sign but then read that the pole was embedded in the car and pushed 30 feet away from the corner where it was impacted. Weird that it stayed upright.

The older I get (and I'm gettin old) the more I appreciate all old iron (including 80's G bodies). Love em all and have a particular fondness for all GM but have always been intrigued by Mopar as well. Always check the latest episode of Grveyard Carz on you tube.

If I had to have a Mopar it would be a 67 GTX. IMO its the best looking Mopar ever created. Black is it!

The Silver Bullet in Detroit is a nice looking car. Many believe it was a factory sponsored street car back in the day.

Goldberg the wrestler has a blue 67 rag, featured on Graveyard Cars. Mopar like everybody else were making some incredibly cool cars late 60's early 70s. Have you seen what the Superbirds and Daytonas are going for these days?

I had one of these. I built up a 440 with a single 4 tunnel ram coming through the hood, with a Holley 850 mechanical. The big issue was that it has 13:1 compression ratio. I port matched the heads to the manifolds. I can't even remember the specs on the lift/duration on the cam and it had an after market ignition.

I think the read end was an 8-3/4 with 4:89 in the beginning. After a shredded several of those I eventually ended up with a Ford 9". I had slapper bars originally and then a link setup on the 9".

A friend of mine's parent owned a small airport and I got high octane gas from them because 13:1 will destroy itself on pump gas.

I did mostly street racing so I didn't use slicks that many times, but it would have needed wheelie bars to got all out with slicks. With street tires it would normally just pull the left tire of the ground.

Several of my friends refused to ride in it after their 1st experience.

Sounds like a great car. A different era for cars, maybe more fun than now in some ways.

Is that your car, or a pic of one similar?

No, that not mine. It's been a long time since I owned that car.

These days it's diesel pickups. I blew out the diesel in an F250 for the 2nd time a few months ago. I now have a Dodge 1500 Diesel It's the 1st of the 1500 type trucks to have a diesel. It averages 29 mph which is really cool.

Injector failure on the diesel?

13:1 compression? No wonder you had to use aviation fuel.

Yep. It's the easiest way to make insane horsepower.

I built an almost identical engine for a guy but used 10.5:1 and it was not in the same ball park in terms of power.

That must be brutal on the highway. :D

Seriously though, that's impressive mpg. Don't even think my company escape averages that. Overlooked that Dodge had a half ton diesel, when I was looking for a truck.
Mine gets half that on the highway.

If I drive slower (about 60) it will get more than 29 but I rarely do that.

It is a 3.0 Liter V6 diesel with 420 ft/lbs of torque which is more torque than the Hemi V8. It's torque, not horsepower that's important for trucks.

I once had a Ford gas F150 with a 5.4L that had more horsepower but way less torque and this will out easily out tow that truck.

It also rides so much better on the Highway than the F250 did.

I had thought for a long time that the medium duty trucks (1500/150 models) needed a diesel option. GM designed a small diesel engine but it was never released. Probably due to issues with the Ultra Low Emissions requirements. Instead they tried to get better mileage by switching some cylinders off under light loads but that only got them to 23 mpg. Ford's plan was to go with aluminum bodies which I assume resulted in a small improvement in their mileage because it eliminated 700 pounds.

My GF has a Jetta diesel that get's about 50 mpg.

I definitely like the potential of diesel. Too bad that VW could have a negative impact on continued development in diesel for cara\light duty trucks.
420lb is nice.
Ford is going with the AL and a ten speed transmission in the near future. Curious to see how that works.
Those 5.4L were dependable and cheap to get parts, but just meh on power. The 3.5TT and 5.0 were much needed in the F150s

All the EPA tree hugger stuff has made a real mess of diesels. The sulfur in the fuel helps to lubricate the injectors and that is now taken out of the fuel. Injector failure is a huge problem with diesels. I speak from experience on that. I had injector failure and the result was an engine that needed to be rebuilt/replaced. Usually the injector failure either burns holes in pistons or washes the rings out. Mine washed out the rings.

The real shame in all of this is that you could have a long lasting, low maintenance, efficient power plant that makes great torque and gets better MPG than gas engines, but the injector issues make having a diesel far less desirable than it ought to be. Everything on a diesel is high dollar to replace. Unless you do a lot of towing and have a real need for diesel its not worth the money or the risk IMO. Having said that I still have mine but only because I have a new engine, new injectors, new trans and numerous other new parts and I wouldnt recoop near what I invested if I were to sell it. I upgraded my radiator to a 4 core that should enable me to tow 20,000 lbs thru the mountains and not have any cooling issues, even tho I rarely tow anything heavy. Ive upgraded my hoses for my intercooler for the turbo. Upgraded exhaust. Ive got a 2005 Dodge 3500 dually and I put SRT10 seats in it for the comfort. So even tho my truck is 10 yrs old Im happy with it and wouldnt even entertain spending $70K+ for a new dually.

BTW, speaking of torque, Ive got 610 ft lbs of torque & 325 HP from the factory, out of a 5.9L Cummins. Not a hot rod, but the torque makes driving it a nice experience. The newer bigger diesels have more torque.
