The Patriots accepted a lower offer from the Cowboys because Milton wanted to play here. Milton didn't go for the best or a better offer from other teams. Quite a classy move by the Patriots to do this so thoughtfully for Milton. They really must like him and give him a chance where he can earn his way to a starter position.Who wouldn’t want to play in Dallas. Zero accountability means zero need to work becoming a better player. Just cashing checks.
Right. That's the problem. This was bad timing, yet again. The only way he is seeing time is if Dak gets hurt, or turns into Russel Wilson 2.0.Probably, exactly when Uncle Miltie becomes a free agent.
He obviously needs development time. What’s the plan there? Dak getting hurt? Make it make sense.
Don’t blame him. You have a starter on the backend that is coming off an injury. Good opportunity to impress.
I don’t believe that. I believe the Patriots took the best offer they could get. This is a phony narrative started by Milton’s agent, the Patriots or Cowboys to give an otherwise insignificant transaction some importance. The Patriots accepted a lower offer from the Cowboys because Milton wanted to play here. What season does Dak not get hurt? We needed this.I like him. Too bad we won’t see him unless Dak is hurt. I’m going to watch every preseason game though.
The Lance trade only had one full year of control which is dumb if he’s supposed to be a developmental qb. The Cowboys still have three years with Milton. Plus the Cowboys are always crying broke but Lance’s cap number was $5 million. Milton’s is only like $1 million. Also a 4th vs a comp 5th is a decent difference in draft value for a team that frustratingly only improves through the draft.-I just find it interesting as fans we trash sending a 4th rounder for Trey Lance who 2 years earlier was a top 10 pick with 4 games experience.
-Fast forward 2 years later and we applaud sending a 5th rounder for a player that was a 6 rounder 1 year earlier because they played decent in 1 game?
Anyone else see the irony in our fan logic? I'm rooting for Joe and hope he does well here and the trade ends up being a steal for the Cowboys. However, I just find it comical how we evaluate certain moves.
I wonder if that is actually the case or the Patriots just don’t want to look like they got fleeced in the trade. Initially the Pats were acting like they could get a 3rd.A source of Coog's? oh HELL no. lol.
In my post, I have overly inflated my speculation of what I think he was thinking based upon what was stated in the OP's tweet (posted by @Hawkeye0202), which was:
The #Patriots had a better offer for Milton but chose to send him where he wanted out of respect for him, per source.
Milton has the raw talent. The problem is just getting him the reps he needs. If he buys into working hard on his foitball smarts and takes full advantage of pre season reps I think he’s a better option than lsnce ever was.I love the fact he wanted to be here. This team has not had a QB worth developing since Dak was seen as that guy in 2016 behind Romo.
Too early to say if this trade will make up for the Trey Lance disaster but I can't wait to see how Milton develops here.
Great point. Those extra years are hugeThe Lance trade only had one full year of control which is dumb if he’s supposed to be a developmental qb. The Cowboys still have three years with Milton. It's not an off the wall perspective, but Milton made his desire known where he wanted to land and if you look at the components of the trade it's plausible that the Cowboys where not the top offer. However the offers from other teams may not have been significantly greater.I don’t believe that. I believe the Patriots took the best offer they could get. This is a phony narrative started by Milton’s agent, the Patriots or Cowboys to give an otherwise insignificant transaction some importance.
Conspiracy theory much? It was widely reported the Pats took less for him. It likely wasn't much less. Because they weren't getting a 3rd or 4th for him.I don’t believe that. I believe the Patriots took the best offer they could get. This is a phony narrative started by Milton’s agent, the Patriots or Cowboys to give an otherwise insignificant transaction some importance.
