A 4th round QB who has more picks than TD passes, comp % below 60% and a QB rating under 60, and they want a 2nd round pick for him? Good luck with that.

I don't think Kirk Cousins is worth a 2nd round pick. But GMs are going to look past a lot of his stats, and instead look at his mechanics, intangibles, and things like that. With the receivers he was throwing to, the line he was throwing behind, and the playcalling he had to put up with, his stats don't mean a lot. I mean, throwing 49 times in a heavy rain isn't exactly going to pad your stats. Also, a lot of those games he played in, he was thrown into without the preparation a QB needs. However, I think the most Washington can realistically hope for is a mid-rounder and a late-rounder.

I agree and overall not a lot to go off of with only with 8 appearances and 5 full starts

It shows you how QB hungry a league is when you can take a guy every team in the league passed on three times, and some of them four times, sit him for two years on a bad team, and then circulate a rumor you're looking for a second rounder for him when he's heading into the end of his rookie contract in short order, and nobody calls 'bs.'

If he's any good, they should keep him in case RGIII implodes some more. :)

LOL. In my opinion, 3200 yards, 60% completion rate, and 16 TDs in 13 games is pretty darn solid for a 2nd year QB who missed the offseason and preseason. And played for the Commanders, for good measure.. At no point in the season did Cousins give any indication that he was even close to RG3's talent level. If someone offers a 2nd or 3rd rounder, we'd be stupid not to take it.

Like I said before though, GMs will be looking beyond stats. And Jerry Jones has been known to make questionable decisions before. :D Perhaps he'll be the one to offer a 2nd. If that happened, I would certainly feel more kindly toward that old codger.

I actually like Cousins ok. I just wouldn't cough up a second for him. Though, I agree, you'd be stupid not to take it if somebody does. And somebody might. MIN traded up to 12 for Christian Ponder, after all. :)

So this is the price a team has to pay for "Cousin Lovin" in the NFL? Yes, I own my bad jokes.

Negotiating posturing.

My guess is it ends up being a draft day trade with a team who didn't get their QB in round 1. Will include a 3rd and a conditional pick IF the team wants to actually trade him

But then, why trade him if that's the case? I think you'd be smart to have a young QB with potential and some experience behind you for at least one more season until you're sure what's up with RGIII-13. No?

Correct.

I am just throwing things out there. Kirk's value is probably what I said, a 3rd plus a conditional 5th, which could become a 4th based on factors.

However he most likely is more valuable to the Commanders.

Honestly, I don't think Cousins gets traded this offseason. This QB class is the deepest in a long time, and any team that would offer us a 2nd could just draft a QB in the 3rd or 4th. I don't think Allen will take anything less than a 3rd and a later pick, and teams just won't be willing to pay that.

I think if Cousins does get traded, it'll be some time in TC, when teams have had time to look over the QBs on their roster.

Cousins is still a great backup, and even though Rat Face isn't running the show anymore, we need a backup QB. So I won't mind at all if he isn't moved, although it'll probably hurt his trade value more.

Commanders announced today that Cousins is not on the block, even for a 2nd rounder. Now, is that true? I don't know but that's what the Skins made public today.

Well, you know how these things go. Washington's FO is just letting everyone know that they have every intention of keeping Cousins in order to drive the price up. If the Commanders were desperate to get rid of him, no team would offer a high draft pick.

If a 2nd round pick is on the table, I don't see them refusing it.
