New Broncos G.M. George Paton may be facing an immediate challenge.

According to 9News.com, linebacker Von Miller is “under criminal investigation” by the Parker, Colorado police department.

The department confirmed to 9News.com the existence of the investigation, but provided no details.

“We’re not commenting on nature of the allegations,” a spokesperson told 9News.com. “We haven’t completed the investigation.”

Miller, like all players, is subject to the Personal Conduct Policy for any off-field misconduct. Depending on the severity of the allegations, Miller could be placed on paid leave, at the appropriate time.

The 31-year-old Miller missed all of the 2020 season due to an ankle injury. He’s entering the final year of his current contract, at a compensation package of $18 million.

And they won't comment on the allegations. How incredibly unprofessional on the police department's part.

And if people are wondering why I'm saying it's incredibly unprofessional from the police department to do this let me explain myself.

There is a presumption of innocence that all citizens of the United States enjoy. Given the nature of humans with cynicism and a tendency to rush to judgment that is being compromised. he is being made to appear to be a criminal before he ever sees a potential trial which is in and of itself prejudicial.

The police department's job is supposed to be to prevent crimes catch criminals and provide law and order. the only way they should release the man is under investigation is if it will somehow help the investigation.

Otherwise if you don't have the horses to indict them keep your mouth shut.

Alleged domestic violence

PARKER, Colo. (KDVR) — It’s been more than a year since Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller has seen the playing field during a game, and now FOX31 has learned that he is under criminal investigation.

Sources tell FOX31 that the investigation involves domestic violence allegations by his ex-fiancée and is being conducted by police in Parker.

It’s unclear when the charges stem from or what allegedly happened.

The Parker Police Department sent FOX31 the following statement:

“The case is currently under investigation, and no information can be released at this time. If the investigation determines a crime has occurred, charges will be submitted to the DA’s Office for their review.”

That was back in the old days unfortunately.

Still won’t forget what he said about his ex having a miscarriage. Just foul on all accounts

They didn't go out and offer this up. They were asked by media and confirmed they were investigating. An investigation says nothing of guilt, so you're off base here.

Are the police the ones who told the press that he's under investigation, or did someone such as a witness or lawyer divulge that? If it's the latter, the police are doing a good job in not expanding on that.

The proper response should have been we do not talk about ongoing investigations.

It's also obvious that someone's leaking information to the press from the police department.

That's straight up corruption.

They confirmed that Miller was under investigation. It is what it is.

I've seen law enforcement bodies say that they will not comment on ongoing investigations and leave it at that.

Then you have the obvious leaks. It stinks.

What information was leaked? You're getting into tin foil hat territory.

But if they said, "we don't comment on ongoing investigations," isn't that an admission that there is an investigation?

Saying that confirms that there's an ongoing investigation. Also, the information could easily have come from the person accusing him, rather than the police. Most people know that the court of public opinion can be more damaging than a court of law, regardless of guilt or innocence.

I get that the press called the police and asked whether or not Miller was under investigation and the police did not do this unilaterally.

I've gotten that from the beginning.

The right response from the police is not confirming the investigation. The right response is that we do not comment on ongoing investigations and cannot confirm or deny what you're asking about.

I can only hope that they're investigating these leaks but I doubt they are.

But if they said, "we don't comment on ongoing investigations," isn't that an admission that there is an investigation?

I believe the boilerplate is we cannot confirm or deny the existence of investigations. A simple no comment would do.

But the police didn't even attempt any obfuscation they just straight up confirmed it.
