On Sirius NFL Radio this morning they were talking about Jerry stating he was going to extend Hamlin. I haven't read anywhere that Jerry has openly stated he was going to extend him, so it was news to me.

Of course, the idiot discussing the topic (Pat Kirwan) was saying this was a sign Jerry might let Roy go. I guess he doesn't realize they play different positions.

But I sure would love to see a defensive backfield of =

RCB = T. Newman
LCB = A. Henry
Nickel CB = J. Reeves
SS = Hamlin
FS = P. Watkins

Do you have any idea of the cap ramifications if Dallas chooses to let Roy Williams go? I doubt seriously Jerry will do such a thing...

Gotcha. I just signed on today, so I guess I should have checked more closely. Mea culpa.

They immediately looked up his numbers and said there was no way, contractually, we would let him go.

We'd be idiots to let Roy go. He is one of the best at what he does; making plays close to the line of scrimmage.

Bottom line, it's not going to happen. One, because of the cap hit that was just mentioned. And two, because he is still one of the better SS in the league.

I'm very happy with Roy and Hamlin roaming the secondary.

:hammer:

Roy Williams might not be having his best season statistically, but the guy is a very solid player and a good lockerroom guy.

Woodson and I believe Roy even stated that it is somewhat of a blow to the ego by not being in certain packages, but the guy has handled it well and still leaves it out on the field.

Before you cause another near-heart attack, you might change the title to

For one year Dawkins would be a good pickup. 34 year olds coming off of injury filled seasons aren't great long term investments.
