Resigning Miles Austin

I say hold off on him give him a first round tender. If he signs else where let him walk. Take the first round pick and head in another direction. Then resign him in the middle of the season or something.

That is one of the dumbest suggestions I have ever read on this board.

I would not just be happy with a RFA tag on Austin if we haven't settled on a contract. I would want the highest tender (first and third rounder) and would seriously consider using the franchise tag.

I just hope they sort out his contract at the end of the year but before the start of FA so we don't have to go through a harsh bargaining process. I want Miles to be happy to stay in Dallas and happy with his contract. I don't want to use Philly bargaining tactics.

Fortunately for us you dont make any decisons at VR

Yeah, then we could use that first rounder on a Mike Williams type WR! :)

You would let a probowl WR that is only 25 yrs old go to another team for a single first round pick???

That would be the dumbest move in the history of this franchise. Its a moot point anyways, Austin will either be resigned before free agency starts or he will most likely be franchised.

BTW... it's great to see Miles show up Desean Jackson in 3 straight matchups and throughout the season. Sure, DS had a few big plays but Miles has shown to be the more complete receiver hands down.

Miles said he was going to test free agency and that Danny Boy already said he would give him a 8/yr $140M deal. :muttley:

I really want to see what our triplets version 2.0 does next year:

Romo-Miles-Felix

I guess this time the TE is so prolific you could call them the quadruplets:

Romo-Miles-Felix-Witten

The underlying key to all of this is the OL so I would urge Jerry to keep paying Houck and keep drafting OL. We have Free and allegedly Brewster is going to be a player but then there is nothing else of significance.

I like the fact that you say the quadruplets cause if I remember, we didn't do much with the triplets when we lost Novacek.

I know, I meant to say it in a fearful way.

I wouldn't take the first pick in every draft from 2010 to 2020 for Miles.

Every GM in the league would although its such a silly suggestion as if it were to every happen.

Perhaps you should consider this.

If 2010 is uncapped, it means that Miles is not an unrestricted free agent.

This. The whole thread is off base. He will not be a restricted FA next year so he doesn't have to be given mega dollars unless Jerry wants to restructure his contract. Which I would say has a pretty good chance of happening. If Miles wants to go that direction. I'd tell him to ride it out if I were his agent.

Actually I'm sure he would like nothing more than to take Miles from Dallas. He was pissed that we got TO.
