Great player, and an exceptionally intelligent dude. Borderline for the Hall of Fame, too.

Agreed.

His numbers were completely eye popping for a TE in the 1980s. Had he been able to log just a couple more years, he'd likely be in the HoF.

I believe you are correct

I just checked it and he did.

When healthy he was a darn good player. Unfortunate loss because he came across as a great person as well.

EDIT: Kind of changes Rich's reason for having respect for him however. haha.

Dude, I am fully aware of the reason why we cut him.

then why did you say we cut him too soon. Landry told him his only chance to make the team was to switch to TE. He refused; so what choice did that leave Landry? If you cannot figure that out that is your problem

I remember Todd was the sideline reporter during Super Bowl 27.
During halftime, he asked Jimmy Johnson, whose Cowboys were leading 28-10, about Buffalo's historic comeback against the Oilers in the AFC Championship Game.
As Todd recounts, Jimmy looks at him and says, "We're not Houston." :)

I don't care what anyone says about Jimmy Johnson, he's the type of coach you love.

I'll always remember T.C. because of that interview.
Sorry to see you go, T.C.

That was great, I remember that and I loved the way Jimmy answered that question and JImmy is the type of coach you love if you want to win championships and build real teams.

Christensen was always one of those athletes that the press loved to interview and get his thoughts back in the 80's. He was such an articulate guy.

For my own selfish reasons, I really started to respect the guy when he would proclaim that Syracuse QB Don McPherson was absolutely robbed of the Heisman Trophy back in 1987. Why did that earn my respect? Because the player that won it was Tim Brown. Who went to Notre Dame; Christensen's alma mater. And Christensen readily acknowledge that Brown should have never won I that year. The key was that the verbiage was such where he showed all due respect to Brown, but at the same time made it known how much of a travesty of justice he felt it was.

When I started to look at his life and career a bit further, I started to see a real Renaissance Man. Very intelligent and thoughtful, but a great athlete not only in football, but baseball and track and field. Just a very open minded and thoughtful person. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

YR

Great description " Rennaisance Man". Very applicable in this case
