If you want some really awesome TX Style BBQ and don't mind a little road trip, drive to Lockhart, TX. I believe it's about 30-45 away...

Bouldin creek cafe
Pluckers
Mother's cafe
Hyde park grill
Galaxy cafe (in the triangle)
The oasis, highly recommend to go on a Sunday because they have live salsa music and good food with a great view over lake Travis
Hula hut (off lake Austin blvd)
Mozarts for coffee and pastries. (it's next to hula hut)
Summer moon for coffee, hand pies, and other speciality foods
Home slice off s.congress
Amy's ice cream
Phils ice house
Top notch burgers (featured in the film dazed and confused)
Dan's hamburgers (austin's version of whataburger)
Magnolia cafe (austins version of IHOP, highly recommend their "landscape" meals)

I'd avoid the food trucks on s. Congress. Most are very mediocre and expensive.

Don't automatically cross out bouldin or mother's because they are vegan/vegetarian restaurants. Both have amazing tasting food that is filling. This coming from a man who is very active and lifts/runs 5-6 days a week.

You put together a very good list. I agree with them all with just a slight disagreement about the Oasis.

The food at Oasis is not good in my opinion. It is average at best, but the view is wonderful. Best in the areas.

Steiner Ranch Steakhouse offers a good view(not as good as Oasis) and excellent food. The same owners just opened Vaqueros Cafe & Cantina yesterday in Westlake Hills. They have a limited menu so far, but it was tasty. Drink was good, too.
