Like QB, a top-flight CB is worth every bit of a 1st round pick... I'm just not so sure the position can be properly evaluated for the NFL at the college level. Like QB.
I say spend the 1st rounder elsewhere and get a couple DBs in the mid-to-late rounds. After Mo, that position has left a bad taste in my mouth for draft day 1.

  • Elite speed - not true he ran a 4.5 thats not elite that is hardly even considered average. Low 4.3 is elite
  • Intelligent about when he initiates contact - ********, dude gets called for holds like a mother****er
  • Good tackler - also BS
  • Quality height - Darby is 5'11" & alot of people are insisting he's short sooooo.
  • Can play well in zone - anyone want to watch some nfl game film & re evaluate this?
  • Solid contributor against the run - im not positive of this but im pretty sure this is a lie.
I know a good portion of these were not argued upon by myself leaving him to still be considered a top prospect but i dont have the time of patience to go back & watch everything i can find to argue this report is trash. But these few mentioned above are clearly blatent BS.

I know Claiborne was seen as a safe of a pick as there was..

But his combine stats were very pedestrian. They weren't terrible, but for a guy going in the top 10 you were hoping for better than average athleticism, especially at the CB position.

Dumb + average athleticism + weak tackler = terrible combination apparently.

Still on the fence about drafting a CB, but I like that Byron Jones and Kevin Johnson are both great athletes.

I still don't get how he could bust so hard. Oh well. Maybe he turns a corner.

A 4 on the Wonderlic should have been a clue. His issues have been mental and injuries. If he could just line up an cover 1 WR with nothing else to think about, he would be OK, but he can't understand the simplest concepts within the scheme. All offenses have to do if have the 2 WRs on one side of the formations cross up and Claiborne will inevitably get confused.

To not be a complete dick though, the kid did have some great ball skills. I'd like to see him go to Arizona & reunite with Pat P & Honey Badger maybe that would help him get atleast his confidence back to be a mediocre player for awhile.

I still don't get how he could bust so hard. Oh well. Maybe he turns a corner.

His first year was OK - the sort of transition many dbs have. Year 2 he became a father and lost his dad in the same week. Year 3 he was pretty bad ... But good lord, who can play cb without a pass rush.

Maybe he just stinks. Maybe he's in the wrong scheme. Clearly he's not mentally tough enough yet.
