I thought Ant Henry and Mike Jenkins were excellent though not many seemed to agree. I'm not sure just what makes guys elite at the position outside of not getting thrown at. It is possibly the hardest position to play in football.

Claiborne is the poster boy for what an NFL corner should look like but too bad he doesn't play at a high level.

Jenkins would have been much better if not for injuries. I know it effects peoples game, but injuries had a very radical effect on his ability. When 100% he was a solid #1 CB. When he was hurt he was a flat out liability

I still don't get how he could bust so hard. Oh well. Maybe he turns a corner.
His problems are more mental than physical. A lack of confidence and more than likely simple intelligence.

Maybe. I thought he was never the same after the playoff game against the Vikes. They targeted him and he got his lunch eaten. Then the AFC did the same in the Pro Bowl. He never recovered.

In any case, Claiborne is just dumb

Actually I would prefer him just be dumb over his explanation that he just quit on the test because he did think it was important. That mindset seems to sum up how he as responded as a player. He can play through minor injures having played almost not preseason games since he's been hear and then he had a mental breakdown when they demoted him.

Compare that the the Scandrick mentality of fighting for a job at all times even when they started Mike Jenkins over him despite many people thinking that Scandrick had out performed Jenkins in TC that year.

Yes, Jenkins was good in coverage. He did much like to tackle, but his coverage was good. I thought he would rebound with another team, but I think I saw that he signed another 1 year deal for 1.5M which is really low for any CB. That's Sterling Moore money.

I remember 2009 he legitimately looked like a future top 5 CB then played with am injured hip in 2010 and was one of the worst CBs in the NFL. 2011 he had some shoulder issues and his play really varied based on how healthy he was. If he was healthy he was solid. If he was hurt he got beat like a drum. I think that, along with what you stated shows that he lacked toughness mentally and physically. He didnt want to get hurt and couldn't effectivly play through pain.

If you combine him and Claiborne, I think you have an effective template on what you dont want in a CB

Yes, both bad terrific physical ability including longer arms than most CBs, but the mental side was just not right.

His biggest issue has been durability. It's hard to develop as a player when you can't stay on the field.

He's got skills, the kid just needs to somehow someway get his confidence back.
