Anyone near my age will remember The Knack, who broke onto the scene with their smash hit, My Sharona in 1979. Back then I bought that single, but not their album, Get The Knack. Lately, I've been listening to that album and have really been enjoying it. They used thin-sounding (single coil pickup) guitars with minimal distortion for an old-school 60s-era sound, and they combined that with a bit of a New Wave sound, especially in the vocals. I heard they made that first album on the cheap, basically going in and playing the songs live with minimal overdubs. Their music was catchy and fun. I really wish I had seen them in concert back when it was possible to do so.
