when the ball left Romo's hand I said to myself, WOW ballsy throw. When Dez caught it, I really felt like we were going to win the game. The reversal was absolute BS.

The reversal was bs. But I admit my thought after Dez caught it was - "way too much time left. There's no way we hold them." That's why the bs call never really bothered me.

Does anyone on here really believe the D would have stopped GB from scoring to win had the offsite refs not blown the call?

Most likely not, but it would've been nice to see if they could have. The defense was great that year at forcing turnovers and I wouldn't of been surprised to see them force one. Hell, they stopped Detroit the week before when I'm pretty sure most people thought they would score.

Except the defense was terrible that whole half. A one legged Rodgers torched them. They had their chances to get Packers off the field after the call was reversed and they did not.

I have much more heartburn with the 3rd and 2 or so we had in Green Bay territory just before the half. They hadn't stopped Murray all day for less than three yards plus there was the clock issue. We run it there and we probably get the first down or we at least burn more clock or force them to use their last timeout. I highly suspect we would've gotten the first though. Instead we throw an incompletion, stop the clock for them, and then watch Rodgers March them down for a huge momentum swinging score just before half. That's how poor game management loses games and it's something we've seen a lot of during Garret's tenure here. It's why I criticize him so harshly. Parcels would've never in a million years thrown the ball in that situation.

At least spell the mans name right.

I feel like I've seen it spelled wrong I every thread I've opened today

I don't, but there was enough time on the clock where I thought we could move down for one final drive if they scored.

I believe it was posted that the Cowboys had a 51% chance of winning the game had that been counted a completion -- based on whatever online calculators that determine that kind of thing.

In other words, the odds would have been with the Cowboys.

Unfortunately we'll never know how it would have played out -- the refs blew the call.

I hate to bring up the past, especially a game with an infamous bad call and i'm not even talking about the Dez catch. I was watching the video highlights of that game and was just wondering about a few things. It was 4th and 2 on GB's 32. We are down by 5 with over 5 minutes left. I'm wondering why we come up to the line with an empty backfield and throw a bomb to Dez? Is it just me or is this just a dumb way to approach a 4th down given the circumstances? I know the play was almost successful had it not been for the bad call but why come to the line with an empty set and put it all on the line with a risky deep ball when you only need 2 yards? I'm not dwelling on the past or anything, just wondering if you think this was a good decision by the coaches?

I think Romo said he wasn't the original target..

I'm still more mad at the clearly incomplete pass that was even reviewed that would have brought up 4th down for the packers. I still have no idea how they called that a catch when it clearly bounced off the ground

That was unbelievable........!!!!! That was "the fix"...Ive seen some bad calls, but that ranks right up there . It was an important down too........ ripped is putting it lightly.... then they go an call an obvious catch, a no catch against us.....

ripped!!

As for the call on 4th and 2. It was peculiar.....but I cant fault the coaches or Romo. We successfully made the play!!!! it was the refs who took it away.....

Having said that, how about hit Bease or Witten for 3 or 4???

Just before the ball was snapped Romo looked over at Dez and as soon as he received the snap he immediately went to Dez. He had Dez in his sights right from the get go.

That's my only comfort in that I know we wouldn't have stopped them. But...maybe they score so quickly it gives Tony a couple minutes to do something. I don't remember the time left, wasn't it close to 5 minutes?

Romo explains it all in the following link:

http://sportsday.***BANNED-URL***/d...t-process-on-dez-s-non-catch-play-vs.-packers

Most of the game, they'd been doubling Dez. Even when they didn't, they would hide it well and come off late. We started to get to that a little bit and understand what they were conceptually trying to do. What happened then was, we went into an empty formation. At a point earlier in the game, I end up throwing the ball to Terrance on a spread-out formation. I think we had a running back in on that play. He ends up scoring a touchdown. He's not the first read on that play, but based on the configuration, not that dissimilar from what this one is. They try and hide the same coverage, which turns into what we call a "cover zero," so it's an all-out pressure. But they hide it by the safeties being a little lower and they're almost like gonna help and double people. You can tell by the mannerisms of some of the linebackers and nickel cornerbacks that they're coming after you....

Dez would never have forgiven Romo if he passed up the one-on-one to try and dink and dunk on a 4th down. They had heavy pressure--Beasley or someone else easily could have had the ball batted down (by dline or coverman) or could have dropped it or fumbled after the catch after getting crushed over the middle. There's so many scenarios. Not to mention that a first down there in ZERO way guaranteed that Dallas would continue the drive for a score. Romo was getting pounded.

I promise you that if any of that happened the same people screaming about Romo throwing the perfect pass to Dez (but not getting the call) would be screaming that Romo had no balls to go to Dez when the obvious chance was there.

This I have no doubt.

Another irony about that last play....
I know Dez was just being his competitive self--so hard to blame him-- but we all know that if he just wanted to catch the ball and go down, he had it. For sure.

Then Dallas could most likely (but not for sure) run clock and score the TD

Had Dez's catch stood with the Cowboys needing a TD to take the lead they wouldn't have fooled around down there trying to milk the clock, they would have tried to punch the ball in on the very next play. Attempting to run the clock could have resulted in a penalty or a fumble. They had a manageable 4th and 2 and should have gone for the first down. They could have worked the clock and scored leaving the Packers with little time to answer.

Ill never question a players desire to get into the end zone and score.

I feel different then others. I think we score there on that drive, and we would've won the game....it would've changed all the momentum. When we had to give the ball back to GB, you could tell by the body language and just the over all emotional feel of the game. Of the coaches and players and fans...... it changed the game and the people playing the game drastically. People were in Shock!!! I think most GB fans in the stadium were in Shock!!

I also think, we were humming on offense. And if we had hit a 4 yard pass to Witten or Bease or whoever, we would've marched into the endzone. That team was on a mission.......... and it was sucked away by the Refs.......

but I don't disagree with the chance to give Dez a shot. not one iota.

You have no idea what would have happened if we didn't go to Dez there. None.
You make all sorts of assumptions and certainly fall into the category of those that would be first in line criticizing Romo if/when they failed to score a TD after either 1) not converting that 4th and two or 2) not driving the rest of the way down field (32 yards) to close the drive with a TD.

It would be something like "Dez was finally in single coverage, and Romo, the loser that he is, had no guts to go for the win. That's why we'll never win with choker". I can just hear it. lol

But since I know by experience that you will argue this (or anything) until you're blue in the face, I'll just say we agree to disagree on this particular issue.
