I generally like any DB who plays with good technique and confidence. I liked Anthony Henry for those reasons but he just got too slow to keep up. Carr reminds me a little of him but, while shorter, he has better physical ability.

Besides his last year in Dallas, I was a big Anthony Henry fan.

I sure missed that memo. Ryan is all about man-to-man. Kiffin is historically all about zone.

No, Kiffin wasn't all about zone -- Dungy was all about zone and that is was the hallmark of the Tampa-2. What Kiffin had historically focused on was the front 7. The Dungy part made the D very adaptable as you didn't need great man cover CBs to run it. It does not preclude playing man coverage.

I think you see us show a man look a few times against the Lions but bail at the last second into zone. Try to buzz a LBer or Safety underneath Johnson a couple of times and try to get Stafford to either force it without seeing it or hold it once in a while.

To me, the zone should be used as a counter with this defense.

Barkley threw that last pick to Carr completely fooled by the man look pre snap and then Carr slipping into zone coverage. Probably more of just a rookie mistake, but something to pay attention to going forward as you say.

I just hope people don't get hysterical when Megatron comes in and back hands us around a little.

He will get his, and there is no corner in this league that can stop him consistently not even Haden or Sherman

Chicago last year was great in that they used man/zone as a two punch combo. It was very difficult to get a pre-snap read on their coverage. Peanut FEASTED on showing one thing only to go to another.

how great of a job brandon carr did on desean jackson. desean was completely taken out of the game and all the while carr was in his face getting him frustrated. thats how you defeat desean jackson. why teams come out and play zone coverage against those receivers, is just beyond me.

single high safety and press coverage, while playing man coverage on avant and cooper. then hope your backers take care of shady. somehow we did all of that. i was real confident we could handle those recievers, but the fact that our LBs handled shady just wowed me.

Desean Jackson looked crushed in interview after the game. He knew Carr won this battle and it wasn't even close. That two weeks in row that Carr has basically shut down WR1 (Garcon & Jackson) and next week he has biggest test of them all with Calvin Johnson. If he some how manages to keep him under wraps...I think its time to start mentioning pro-bowl for Carr this year.

Both had to play physical to be effective altho Henry played S pretty well. I think Carr can play S altho this D really needs more speed. Right now he's good where he is.

I disliked them both at safety. I generally dislike moving corner backs to safety anyway. They are completely different positions with different responsibilities, keys, physical requirements, etc. Henry wasn't incompetent but I thought he was a better man corner. Carr was alright at safety but just sooo wasted at it.

another thing on desean jackson. you really only have to work hard for about 2 quarters. carr did a fantastic job and he was also able to get jackson to basically give up in the 2nd half.

deseans attitude is just terrible, and for the great year hes having, when the going does get tough you cannot depend on him to break you out of it.

Carr was so physical with DeSean Jackson that even when he had a cathable ball, he could not hold on to it. And when he finally get's a step on Carr, Wilcox makes a great play on the ball to deny Jackson the TD. DJ was one frustrated sucker yesterday.

What do you know, Cowboyszone was right about something! I think just about every single one of us wanted Dallas to play more press coverage. :)

Secondary did a great job. The defensive plan may change if Vick is the QB. Phili is a far more dangerous team when Vick is the QB. You can't focus on Shady McCoy and once you take your eyes of Shady, he burns you.

The reason to play zone at time is when Vick is the QB and he runs a lot. When you play man, Vick makes a lot of big runs. Zone limits QB draw because the DBs faces the QB.
