It's really unfortuate because I saw a lot of improvement in him last year. He is replacable, though.

It's tough to imagine them winning a NC under these circumstances, or even running through the Big12S. I just hope we can beat Texas.

My personal choice would be for Paul Thompson to be moved back, but they may be too far down the road of converting him to wideout to do that. If they can effectively convert PT back, I think they have a chance to still be very competitive. But if they have to rely on this junior college guy, it may be tough sledding... although the last JC quarterback they had did pretty well for them!

I just don't get how stupid some of these kids can be. If Bomar had kept his nose clean and continued to improve, there's a great chance he'd have been drafted some point. But for $18,000 in relative chump change he's thrown all that away.

Sad.

Methinks Adrian Peterson isn't out of the clear in this one. Not saying he will be suspended, but it looks suspicious.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2537332

In April, Oklahoma cleared standout running back Adrian Peterson, who purchased a vehicle from the dealership before securing financing, drove it for several weeks and then returned the car. Oklahoma investigated the situation, but ruled Peterson did not violate rules because the dealership said it was normal business practice.

Wonder if the NCAA will investigate?? You know they will.

Worked in car sales before, we do let you drive the car off before the bank gives the definite "Yes" to your loan, but only if we were sure you would get approved, and 99% of the time they were. There are a few times, say, a week or two later the bank will come back and say "So and so will need to come up with $2000 downpayment to get approved" else they'll have to return the car. Unfortunately I've had to make those calls and talk about someone hating your guts for life, easily the worst part of being a salesman. Imagine driving a new car and being all happy then 2 weeks later find out that unless you come up with a couple of grand you're declined.

Not sure if this is what happened, just throwing it out there. Unless Peterson had a steady job (Which if I'm not mistaken is disallowed under NCAA rules except for the summertime) there should be no way he gets a new car unless his immediate family applied for it.

Alright a Car Salesman... Apparently AP kept the Lexus for 6-7 weeks from what I hear. Is that "normal business practice?"

6-7 weeks?? Oh that's too long, even for luxury dealers who work with finicky clients that demand to be pampered. I'm curious to see what they'll say is the reason for keeping a car that long.

I respect Bob Stoops more than any coach in college football after this. Its hard to say what coach if any in the NCAAs would have made such a swift and harsh (but absolutely deserved) decision. No way would Pete Carrol have done the same thing. No way. He didn't kick Jarrett off the team for something very similar. He wasn't paying even close to what the actual rent was when he was rooming with Leinert. Which isn't that dissimilar from getting paid not to work very much. There has been the whole Reggie Bush situation. Mark Sanchez using his Sanchez when he shouldn't. Now the Steroid allegations. USC bar none has the dirtiest program in the NCAA with absolutely no one who knows whats right and whats wrong.

I would argue that some Florida schools have USC beaten.

I like Stoops (as much as I can for him being OU's coach), he seems to be a stand up guy, but I'm not so sure he deserves to skate on this. I don't know what he knew, but there have been a lot of his players connected with this particular car dealership.

When you have multiple guys working at one place, and luxury cars being driven for 6-7 weeks without paying while "securing financing," the coach (or at least some compliance person) should know about it and make sure everything's kosher. I'll wait until I know more, but I'm not ready to give Stoops a pass yet. But maybe he'll be ready to leave OU when BP retires:D

Anyone who says any different didn't watch a game last year.
No Vince Young= No national championship for Texas.
Thats the point I want to make. You could have put Vince Young on about 5-6 different teams last year and they probably would have won the National Championship. He was that good. Like I said best college Quarterback ever. He Mack Brown-proofed the longhorns last year. You can win with a Jay Barker, Josh Heupel or Tee Martin, but expect to win, thats a whole different story. The NC last year was a whole lot more about Vince Young than it was Mack Brown and Coaching.

Why do his actions deserve respect? If Stoops diddnt act, then the University of Oklahoma would face far more severe actions than just a player or two off the team. Stoops doesnt come out of this as an honerable man, but a man who made the best choice for the future of his program. If he doesnt get rid of Bohmar, OU would be in incredible amounts of trouble. I dont see how rooming with a teammate equates to cheating the time clock at a business, I believe you are completely wrong. Sure, just bring up USC to absolve OU of its filthiness and its ******** players that dont care about their schools or their teammates enough to atleast find a reasonable way to fake it.

Honorable, you have to be able the spell it to know what it is.
He could have suspended him, like 99% of the coaches in the NCAA would do if they were heading into the season as the odds on favorite to win the NC. He didn't. He kicked him to the curb. It was decisive and justifiably harsh, which is more than anyone else has done with such a high profile player in recent years. Why is Jarrett going to play for USC this year? Jarrett was in a 3,866 dollar a month apartment split with Leinert and paid 650 a month around 1300 less than he is required to pay per month by NCAA rules. This is a blatant violation of NCAA rules. Did Carrol kick him off the team? Did he? Nope just ingoring it and giving him a slap on the wrist suspension. Reggie Bush, Mark Sanchez, now Bing with steroid allegations, where is the outrage against SC?

Oooh you corrected my spelling, I must have really hit a nerve. Leinart was in an apartment his parents paid for, he comes from a wealthy family and was helping out someone who diddnt have as much money as him. That is completely different than the white collar criminals of Oklahoma who embezzle money from car dealerships.
