Rich Eisen combine rumors: Cowboys to shake up roster

Not going to lie. No clue what the club is doing this year and not sure they do either besides “get tough”
This is a hang-over from the mess that Jerry made last year. Rather than initiate a change, after the GB game, he did his usual the can (rather than making the decisions last year - trading : DLaw, Martin, Osa, J-Lew - and starting again).
Now we're in the worst of all world's with 2 massive contracts, three more to pay out but weaknesses throughout both Lines. DONT WORRY, JERRY's got NO CLUE EITHER.

Was our roster not shook up last year?
We suffer now, for the lack of a strategy last year.... that GB game spooked Jerry, but instead of taking control and taking a stand by tearing it down (trade: Osa, Martin, Dlaw, J-Lew....let Dak play for a contract) OR ALL-IN behind: Tyron, Pollard, Gilmore, Hankins and played it with Dak's last year, where he's hungry to prove he's worth another contract.
Jerry as per usual he goes for the middle option as he wants relevancy. No foresight, no strategy, no idea.

I'm a minority but I could see a major shakeup via trade or free agent signing. Maybe, just maybe, Jerry and Stephen are starting to get it what they are doing, isn't working. First Garrett, and now McCarthy, almost 15 years and nothing to show. It would not surprise me if they hear from inside close circles, especially younger family members ( like most young ones today, they cut through the BS and give you the hard cold truth).
Bottom line and I never said this before, but the team and Jerry have become an embarrassment. There was a time when Jerry was considered one the most powerful and respected owners in the league ( certainly top 5 ) but now he's mocked and laughed. You can't convinced his people don't see this and are encouraged about the future or direction of the team.

I would love to see this, but then you have to ask if he wanted to shake things up, why sign Dak to the deal he did? He basically wrote off the next few years until Dak is gone when he signed that deal.

My only real concern here is are the Cowboys going to play the comp pick game again? Not that it cant work out but will they opt to let their FAs walk just to avoid free agency and look at the trade market to bring in talent? Another Cooks/Gilmore type of offseason?

They need to prioritize Lewis. Letting him leave, especially with our weakness at CB, would be a huge mistake.

I'll be surprised if Lawrence is retained. We have Kneeland, Parsons and Williams at end, so Eberflus could have some free agent who played for him in mind as a fourth.

I figured Lawrence wouldn't be retained because of cost, while Lawson would come back because he'll be cheap.

Of course, maybe we're going to just trade for Myles Garrett. ;)
Dlaw has a 7M dead cap hit.

1. I don’t believe they have woken up

2. If they have, they still have the same incompetent people incharge of making decisions so the outcome will be more change and spending but similar results

I have no idea what he means by this. So far we have heard the Cowboys have talked to DLaw, Lewis, and Osa about new contracts. They will tender Turpin. I assume they will retain the RFAs and ERFAs like Hoffman. The rest are just guys, with the exception of Mukuamu and Golston. Then there is Anger, the punter, Seig, the long snapper, and who else?

he was basically saying dallas is going to get new guys in FA and draft instead of signing
what they have.
They want new players.
But he admitted it was all rumors.
If they actually do this it could signal that they have accepted the reality they won't contend for a couple years & are trying to build a core for the next era.

Sign Osa, Lewis, and Lawrence.

Sign Nick Bolton and Wil Hernandez.

Draft 2 running backs and 2 dtackles.

Of course they will do other things, but it wouldn't surprise me if all of the above happen.
Better draft a pair of OT too.
