Goose says Brewster is the 81st best player in this draft?????

Dear God, this draft talent was worse than even I suspected.

Goose usually does well with where people are drafted. He likely has one or two high placed guys who give him their draft boards and he just goes from there. I expect that you could take most teams boards and find a similar level of accuracy

He has stated he has sources with just about every NFL team.

Goose definitely has a source with the Tennessee Titans and the New York Giants. I have pieced those together because he has so much sourced info about those teams and their draftees.

What sets Goose apart is his sources are not just low man on the totem pole scouts. He has serious sources who do know the draft boards.

So basically you had no idea how our draftees were ranked and yet you've been complaining.

Well done.

Interesting analysis. Here is the significant question that comes out of Goose's work and DE's analysis. The Cowboys selected two players on this list and a number of players that fell outside it. Given the number of picks they had, should the Cowboys have used some of those picks to move up and select more players on this list instead of the larger number of lower ranked players?

Is the difference in talent at #81 and where we selected Mickens all that great? I suspect not.

Actually, no. Essentially, Gosselin is only relaying evaluations which the league itself (e.g. 32 teams) has accumulated on players. He's not evaluating the players at all. So, basically, you could say, "The NFL says Brewster is the 81st best player in this draft?????".

Goose said a few weeks ago that he never ever reads any draft sites /mocks etc etc. He said he did not want to be influenced by them. It's all information gathering on his part from the scouts, coaches and GM's.

Great stuff DE. Look at those reaches! :)

Goose (due to his research) is one of the best at predicting how the draft will fall...but not at all at predicting how good players will eventually be. Those are two totally different things.

For example, go back to when Brady was drafted and Goose would not have had him listed as one of the top QBs. So his flaws are the same as the average flaws of his sources.
On the other had, he had Chris Johnson higher than most last year, and look how that turned out.

Look everyone, the draft is over and it's fun to predcit how these pciks will work out. But it won't be long and we will begin getting a real answer on the field. Until then, we are really just guessing--some more informatively than others.

My understanding is that Goose polls as many GMs or front office execs from as many teams as possible in order to try and create a legitimate consensus for player value.

He doesn't reveal how each of teams responding to his poll and graded prospects or who did the work. He keeps that information private, allowing those participating to trust him and be as honest as possible.

All 32 NFL teams reportedly look at his list because of this.

It's more truthful than anything in a sea of lies and disinformation right before the draft.

That's his story but I doubt it is true - the fact is that if he polled a bunch of people you'd never really see guys on his list going undrafted. For example, if a bunch of GMs had Cadogan in their top 100 then it would be shocking to see them all pass on him in rounds 4-7. One or two solid team sources get you a list like this - my guess is that he's got a few friends who are well placed scouts

The idea that all 32 teams look at his list again is just DMN spin. If a team trust Goose more than their own scouting departments then they need to serious reevaluate their staff.

Again, if that were the case then it would be highly unlikely to ever see his top 100 guys fall to the 6th round or later.

I don't believe anyone has a trustworthy crystal ball when it comes to the draft. One can only evaluate the potential of each player from highest to lowest of all eligible players and rank them accordingly. That's the information (e.g. evaluations) which the teams convey to Gosselin, who in turn, relays to his readers. The success or failure of any player's professional career is really anyone's guess.
