Rodriguez made the decision of his life in leaving WVU, he is leaving a high school football wasteland that only had 2 recruits over 3 stars in this years class. He was already having to compete to get Ohio and Pennsylvania kids, and thats with crappy facilities in a second rate conference. I cant wait to see what he does with Michigans resources.
Oddly enough his number one recruit he had for WVU but now is going to go to Michigan.
So I guess if he could get them for one school he could get them for another so your point is moot.
His system is not predicated on the normal WRs...you will find out. 85-90% of his passing game...which is about 30% total of the whole offense, is nothing but a bubble screen.
He does not recruit the type of QBs that michigan is used to having. He wants pure running QBs that can pass in a pinch.
What will be interesting to see is if the assistants that REMAIN at michigan and are NOT OF HIS CHOOSING. Will stick with the normal defense or if he will make them switch to the 3-3-5. No that is not a typo. The base defense he likes is the 3-3-5 because he will not want the normal players do to the offenses quick playing. He wants lighter defenses.
Also have to wonder what will happen with the normal offensive line that michigan is known for getting. They are not the same type of players he likes for his system.
Furthermore...Michigan is not what they once were...that is why so many coaches have turned them down.
The ONLY reason Rich went there is because he had his bluff called. You can believe it or not but that is the truth. He wanted to stay at WVU and get another bundle of money but they were not going to play that game with him one year after giving him an extension.
So you can feel better about him thinking he wanted to go to michigan because of this or that, but the fact of the matter is he got his bluff called. The AD at WVU said he would NOT get anymore extensions after just getting one last year. He said that Rich would have to apologize to the team and some other people for trying to pull this stunt and Rich refused. Instead of manning up and admitting to what he was doing he tucked tail and ran.
Furthermore he told a recruit before even talking to his team. Later when he talked to the team, one of the players said...So you are not even going to coach in the blanking bowl game and Rod punked out and just left because he knew they called him out for his actions.
So as I said...if you want him, you can have him.
