Incognito is a bad guy. But really the coaching staff and team need to be reprimanded here as well. Player under their supervision bullied a teammate -- obviously this voice mail is likely just the tip of the iceberg. I'd like to see members of the staff fined a few game checks - I'd say suspended, but the last thing that team needs is few coaches around.
Agreed. Who headed up the Dolphins' Team Leadership Council, anyway, and why didn't he do anything? Oh, I see: that would be Richie Incognito.

He messed with the right person.....I'll tell you that.

If you are not trying to fight, what you do is delete all voicemails....let time go by(so nothing is so obvious it traces back to you), you have millions. Hire a hitman, or find out dudes living situation or what he does on his free time at night, monitor, wait for the right moment...and leave him stiff as a log, in suit looking nice.

That, or save all the evidence....walk into the locker room, blind side him and start going to work. That way when they ask you why, you can point to that. That way you are maybe suspended 6 games or the year, and he is left bloody, kicked out of the league, and has to look over his shoulder after the racist comments.

This is what you do, if you are scared to fight straight up and be a man. Never just run, and point the finger though, at least go out with a bang, even if you play dirty.

Are you serious with this?

Will rules be written to protect rooks from older players looting them?

If the allegations against Incongnito are true (I trust Shefter as far as I could throw King Kong Bundy), I can understand Frozen's line of thinking. There were reported threats against Martin's family and to be honest, if I had a problem like that with somebody threatening that, I'm not sure what I would do.

I probably would have done something similar to what Jacques Rougeau did to the Dynamite Kid back in the 80's. That could always escalate the situation, although I would be so enraged by some piece of garbage threatening my family that I would want to make sure that he faces the consequences for doing so.

They don't need new rules. Most of the alleged behavior is covered under the criminal code.

As well as basic workplace policies...

I'm sure memos will be sent out to all 32 teams to remind them of such things.

this is really escalating. Now there are rumors the Justice Department is looking at starting an investigation.

This whole story has a major creep factor to me. Bullying right.

He sounds like a nut job to me.

If Dez doesn't know the helmet rule then it isn't too surprising that other players will need to reminded of workplace policies. :D

I think Martin may have been Homosexual though for them to just pick on dude like that.

Like somebody said in the comments in the article, they had something on him. That may have been it.

Wow. Just wow. "He must be gay" -- that's such ignorant BS. Do you honestly think someone would have to be gay to be affected by harassment of this nature?

Other things to consider here are this. First, he likely didn't trust his coaches to do anything about it -- after these guys knew to some extent about the behaviors. Second, to all the folks saying that Martin should have attacked him or fought back, that would seem to be an idiotic thing to do if he'd been bullied by others. Also, he'd probably get his tail kicked. He's a big guy but in all likelihood Incognito would destroy him.

My god. Tom Jackson (who rarely talks bad about others) is staight up stomping on Richie Incognitos name. Good.
