Rico Dowdle signs w/ Panthers 1 year up to 6.25 million

Is 6 million dollars that bad of a deal for us for a backup RB that is capable of a 1,000 yard season? Especially since he was backing up Zeke for the first few games.

I look at RBs now almost like WR. No more bell cow backs but a RB1 and RB2 like WR1 and WR2. What is a WR2 being paid nowadays?

I'm on board with a RB pick in the 2nd and another in round 5 with one of our many comp picks, Rico would have been a nice complement to that.

On the other hand, I feel we underutilized Hunter in the backup RB role, if he is used more and is successful, than I can better understand letting Rico go for 6 million.

Rico was basically platooning for half the season. He had less than 10 carries in 5 of the first 7 games. If you project out his stats to average 15 carries a game, he would have run for over 1600 yards.

Lol!!! Mods have to be knowledgeable....this cat doesn’t know sheet. That's why he's always asking for thoughts.
I wish I had his enthusiasm and ability to not be poisoned by the ownership here...he's awesome

This sets up the Cowboys to draft Jeanty at #12 or trade up to get him. If Jeanty is picked early then they are forcing a RB in the 2nd or 3rd round even if it isn't best player available. Other teams now know the Cowboys want a RB and will trade and draft around to keep them from getting the player they want in the 2nd or greater.
There are teams in as desperate need of a running back that are already drafting in front of the Cowboys. If Jeanty is there at #12 it will be because those teams do not think he’s worth their first round pick.

Can we have at least one thread that you Dak haters dont hijack?
they make this place a miserable hellhole. can't even talk about other players

Dowdle is whatever. Middle-of-the-pack rusher, you can find guys like this in FA or in rounds 3-5 of the draft. Never pay these kinds of backs.

READ any of my posts pertaining to Dak on this forum. I do not hate him, nor do I love him. He is an above average QB in this league given what talent he has on the team to help on offense IMO.

I do however think making him one of the highest paid QB's in the NFL is no different than Watson's contract for the browns, and everyone knows how that deal went down. Kind of beyond stupid IMO on the Cowboys end.

I thought the Eagles were beyond stupid to pay Hurts what they paid him. Dak is getting paid more than Hurts.

Anyway you cut it, Hurts won the super bowl after he got paid. Dak pretty much sat out the season after he got paid.

Hopefully sooner or later Dak can win a super bowl. If he can't, shouldn't have paid him that money to begin with IMO.
