if it were me, i would dump one of the extra FB's or RB's and start working him into the redzone offense

Wow.

Rico was the worst player in a preseason game I've ever witnessed. Just awful. It's like they went out and found a 6-6 Siberian who'd never seen a game before and suited him up.
Seems harsh on Siberia.

The base salary is 7.4 so if they want to get the cap figure down it would likely be a short extension to spread the hit out further.

Why would you double down on that level of compensation for a player is who is on a steep decline? You can love Witten to death, but that doesn't change his age.

If he can transition with another year of practice and work, he might actually be the replacement for
Witten who can block and catch passes. He certainly has the size and athleticism skills.

did u just compare Gathers to Witten?

I think the FO and staff is keeping this guy in tow for reasons that we may know nothing about. He must have something special going for him to make him valuable enough to invest the extra dough. If his ability ever matches his body, we'll have hit the jackpot. He's obviously willing to commit himself to the time and effort to learn, so maybe he's deserving of the patience it takes to develop him. Ultimately, there's only one way to find out.

Fasano and Bennett have had good careers.....
I have no problem with the talent of either player....but I withhold saying what I really feel like happened with both players while in Dallas. Let's just say the 5 people that run this organization are Jerry, Stephen, Garrett, Romo and Witten....is what happened to those players.

That's not a bad gig. I had no idea Practice Squad players made that kind of money. Wow

I agree. I think mainly we made the mistake of taking tight ends that high when we had a all pro tight end on the roster in his prime.

I can understand that happening once...but to happen 3 times screams either lack of direction....or a power struggle between the names I mentioned. Based on everything I have read, heard and observed....I think I know what happened. And don't forget what TO and Crayton said about this offense. And pay attention to how Dez has been used.
