Rico Gathers done talking concussions

When will threads stop for a guy that has never sniffed the field....the hype machine is STRONG in this one

I'm guessing you didn't read a lot of the posts in this thread. I'd hardly call this hype.

"If you were going to write a song about overcoming a concussion, how would it go?"

Ima trynna splain it to you
I aint got concussed
It be a ruse.

Still working on the second verse.

Sign me Rico, I want to be on your label.

If you look closely in the picture you can see that he is still wearing the sunglasses which are worn by people with concussions. Until he can play without the shades I'm thinking he still injured. #ClearEyeView

It's not actually a beanie he's wearing. It's a specialized compression headcuff that stimulates the concussion nerves in the frontal cortex.

Just repeat the first verse and the third verse could be you didn't remember the first verse.

I want him to treat it like a real job. I don't want a guy thinking about the 'offseason' where he doesn't have to try to improve.

Or he could focus on making music until training camp and then just wing it, I suppose that's a viable approach too.

You realize that pretty much all NFL players simultaneously train in the offseason AND have non-football related interests as well, right?

Yeah, but it would just be nice if he accomplished ANYTHING in football before he started promoting his outside interests. So far he's managed to collect a lot of money to fund his outside interests while not improving his football enough to actually play football for us. But I can't wait for his next song. Hopefully it's about touchdowns, or even catching a pass in a game.

Sung to the tune of Eminem's Lose Yourself

Look, if you had, one shot, or one opportunity

To seize everything you ever wanted. In one moment

Would you capture it, or just let it slip?

Yo

His thoughts are fleeting, eyes weak, ears are bleeding

There's vomit on his jersey already, he’s not ready

Not at all, on the field he looks lost and ready to drop balls,

He keeps on forgetting the play and the down,

The whole crowd goes so loud

He wants to play, but the docs say no way

Head’s hurting still, everybody's waiting still

The clock's run out, season’s over, still!

Snap back to reality. Oh, another CTE

Oh, there goes Rico, he low

He's so ‘cussed, he forgets everything so

Easy, YO!

His eyes still twitch, he knows his whole teams on these ropes

Could try a fatter, Randy’s dope

He knows that but he's broke

Stuff’s expensive, no blows

When he goes back to his sideline, that's when it's

Back to the doc again, yo

This whole rap is sick

He better cling to his memory and hope it don't pass him

[Hook:]

You just lost your mind and the head’s thick, the moments

You lost them, probably never get them back (back)

You only took one shot, gone to a serious whack

Hope head injury comes once in a lifetime (yo)

You just lost your mind and the head’s thick, the moments

You lost them, probably never get them back (back)

You only took one shot, gone to a serious whack

Hope head injury comes once in a lifetime (yo)

Damn, I think you just got my record contract

I am kind of over talking about Gathers. He is simply irrelevant at this stage. Until next preseason and then people can start talking about how he is the second coming of Antonio Gates again after he beats some camp body for a layup TD.

The Cowboys have already made gold in the music business...

I thought it was Nolan Carroll,,, I'm also thinking you're posting in jest,Aven8 ;)

Man! From the limited preview we got from him in pre season & after that utter & complete lack of attention the coaching staff exhibited in addressing 'issues' in the Falcon's game,,,,there's no reason whatsoever as to why the RICO shouldn't see the field and put in some meaningful playing time in The 2018 season,,,o_O

I was being a little sarcastic...;).

Rico has to be the strangest situation I've seen with the Cowboys. Is he a secret weapon we are hiding, can he just not play? Weird. All I know is from what I saw in PS this dude can stretch the field and be dominant. If we use him that is.

Oh,guys! Dudes just putting his backup plan for life up on the front burner, set to slow simmer during this
" off season " as he knows this football gig just might not be where it's at o_O
Anybody got the ballpark figure on how much that 'full salary' Dallas has been paying him starts at?

If he leaves Dallas he'll be an all pro watch let Sean Payton get his hands on Rico... Ight he'd know just what to do with him... Put him on the field... Got rid of Adrian Peterson and all of sudden a rookie RB out here killin in Kamara, who i was on record as saying who i wanted but actually glad he in N.O, him and DE Barnnett whos in philly.. Im from TN so I watch alot of TN Vols football.

But his talent would be waisted here

I surely can't say as I blame Rico for being disgusted with the way he's been handled. At one point, there's a coach telling him he's the best thing since sliced bread and the next thing that occurs is that he's being relegated to his couch to reflect upon a plan for his future. Accordingly, he's planning on doing his utmost to make the team, with a backup plan to turn to the world of music if pro football doesn't pan out for him. To me, the Cowboys had best make the most of affording him an active opportunity to prove himself before he concludes it's hopeless.

He's scheduled to make 497,000 next year and 587,000 the year after that. That million will pay for a lot of studio time. If he can make more at music then I applaud him, and he should do so.
