News: Rico gets it!

I route for Rico. I hope he can keep grinding and win that spot. He needs to understand the offense AND remember what to run when the play is called. I really feel if plays this season and has one more camp this guy will be a beast. I'd love to see him in the 12 personel that the patriots used to run with gronkowski and Hernandez.. Dak could use a guy like Rico with his size and athleticism. All he would have to do is throw the ball up and let Rico get it. He would be Dez as Dak is romo. Dez didn't do to much if any route running at the beginning either. So let's let Rico score some points and catch some passes for us until he gets it. Its like Geoff swain vs Rico, swaim, Rico. Give me a break it's obvious Rico is a better talent than swaim when you talk about just catching and scoring. Which is the name of the game. The potential is there and its very very high. So you're going to tell me you'd cut a potential star for a role player just because he is sharper RIGHT NOW at knowing routes and blocking. I'd like to see Rico so that I can see how much he has grown. I'll just take what I saw last preseason. Rico can get up the field and even when he is covered he is open because he is like 6'7" 280 lbs that can move. There is no way I cut him. He can score right now. Coach Garrett wants to use that tightends are an integral part of the run and passing game stuff as a way to keep swaim ahead of him. I understand a little you don't want Rico to be complacent or for him to over evaluate himself. Thats cool but this guy needs time on the field this year and the one more camp and he should have it down. It's like that movie drumline sort of. Your le trying to belittle him because he can't read sheet music but who cares if he can play the drums good. Rico can catch and score points which is the name of the game , he can learn the technicalities later.

Put him in on passing situations and Let him do what he's good at. Garrett is being short sighted if he doesn't take advantage of his skills. Plenty of tight ends in this league who started out as poor blockers.

How many of those started out without any football at all for 9-10 years before they got to the NFL? And how many of those play on a team as focused on the running game as the Cowboys? In the end, if they keep 4 TEs they will have the luxury of keeping a receiver only type TE, but if they only keep 3 it will be much tougher. Truthfully there really isn't a certainty he is that much better receiver than any of the other TEs.

Jamaal Charles is tied for the third highest running back rating in Madden 16 and now we learn that Travis Kelce is also a top five player at his position. Kelce comes in with a 91 rating on Madden 16, which puts him No. 5 among all tight ends in the game.

Here's what the Madden 16 blurb says about him:

Note that he's the highest rated run blocker among tight ends. That's excellent acknowledgement of his work in that department. When you think of tight ends who are great at catching the ball, you just assume they're not as good at run blocking. Kelce truly is a complete tight end.

Patience all you Grasshoppers. Injury and TC will filter the TEs. We will almost certainly keep 4. You have 3 TE formations and you need a 4th for injury. Since I've said it they will probably keep 3. :)

I think they have to keep 4. Swaim hasn't exactly been durable in a very limited role.

Or Gathers is just that raw. Look, he has athletic ability. But he cannot do the little things, how can you justify keeping him as an active 53 player?

Agree with all this. He is potentially a very challenging matchup for most teams but does this outweigh his other deficits ... JG is alluding to the fact as he doesn't make the cut.

who we going to cut or put on the practice squad so the legend can ride the bench.
