Watch out for the Jerry Jones smokescreen. Be assured that Bob Stoops is on his short list.

Sadly, you might be right. I really hope not.

It's unfortunate many would label him as a "ridiculous" candidate. He deserves another shot at the NFL.

I'd be very happy with Gailey...as I've said many times before, he was more successful in his two years than parcells in 4.

You really don't think Parcells could have done what Gailey did with Aikman and Emmit still playing at a decent level? Not to mention Larry Allen and a still decent line?

That team would have been tailor made for him.

Maybe you're a teenager....or maybe you're a lonely old man who spends too much time in chatrooms, but it's generally not acceptable around here to draw attention to yourself with assinine posts that attack others whom you don't understand, especially try to avoid insults that you read in other threads by the kids....either share an opinion or simply mind your own business...that's how most of us adults treat the ZONE....thanks.

NOPE! BP SUCKS!!! OMG!!!!:bang2:

Seriosuly, people are giving Gailey a bit too much credit for what he did with the type of talent he had.

For him...Gailey was a pass game specialist who was putting up huge points with players who weren't happy about learning a new system, any system other than the timing offense, especially Aikman....He went 10-6 and won the division with those players you name...that's acceptable, isn't it?

The next year there were injuries that resulted in the team going 8-8....the coach who took over after Gailey went 5-11 for 3 straight years.

I'm not saying Gailey is a HOF coach, just that he's a good coach and that he didn't mess things up in Dallas. The standards were very high, even though our personel had already begun to slip back to the pack due to injuries, age, and poor drafting by JJ. I personally think Gailey was fired too quickly.

I'd be happy with Norv or Chan....but I doubt Chan will actually even get an interview...afterall, JJ did fire him :).

I'm gonna throw a name out there; Bill Parcells. Maybe he can be talked out of retirement; Dallas is a hotbed of talent that the next coach should be able to take to the Superbowl, why not Parcells?

Chan was a puppet. He had no authority whatsoEVER w/ the team. How on earth could anyone play for the guy and feel.

Yeah - Im going to the SB w/ this coach.

No thanks.

Give me an authoritative figure. Someone who kicks butt and takes name and has a fire for the game.

Sign THAT guy.

I'm not dissing Gailey, I think he got a raw deal.

But to say he accomplished more than Parcells is absurd considering what each started out working with. New system or not, Gailey had Troy and Emmit. Parcells had Quincy and T-ham to start with.

Norv, OTOH, has had ample opportunity to prove he is a decent OC who is not HC material.

Seriosuly, people are giving Gailey a bit too much credit for what he did with the type of talent he had.

Here's the angle people never look at when talking about how much "talent" Gailey inherited: He didn't inherit as much talent as people think he did, and some of the major talent he did inherit spent a lot of his tenure injured and/or not wanting to adapt to the new system. How good is a HOF-caliber player when he's either not on the field and/or is carrying out your gameplans and playcalling halfway kicking and screaming?

Regarding the "inherited talent" issue, Gailey's '98 squad here was a team that was 5 offseasons of free agency raiding removed from the last club Jimmy had coached, and 3 from the last SB winner. Anyone who remembers the mass free agency exodus we had to endure every offseason in the '90s for a while knows what I'm referring to.

Regarding injuries to his HOF talent, he had Aikman missing almost 6 full games in that 10-6 '98 season; Daryl Johnston missing 15 games with the neck injury in '99 that eventually led to his retirement; Irvin missing 13 1/2 games in '99 with the injury that eventually led to his retirement; Emmitt missing 2 1/2 games in '99 after breaking his hand in Kenny Wright's helmet on MNF; Leon Lett suspended 4 games in '99; Deion missing serious time and/or playing less than 100 % in '99 due to the toe injury, which also eliminated the big plans Gailey admittedly had for him on offense.

That doesn't even go into all of the other injuries at the receiver position in 1999 that had us resigning Alvin Harper at one point for goodness sake. Mills, McGarity, Davis all went down at some point, and he'd also lost James McKnight before training camp even got fully underway.

This guy had Murphy's Law going to the hundredth power when he was coaching here, hence the reason his supporters feel he got the shaft and that the team would have been much better off with him running it instead of Campo. I would have loved to have seen a healthy Galloway, Ismail, and McKnight in Gailey's offense that next season after he was let go.

You know, I can't argue with the overall spirit of your comment, because if he wouldn't have been perceived that way then Aikman and possibly Irvin wouldn't have felt comfortable going behind his back and over his head to Jerry with their gripes about his system.

However, I think that ultimately, it was Chan's refusal to be a puppet that got him fired. For one thing, he didn't give in to Aikman or treat him with kid gloves, which I'm sure rubbed Troy the wrong way. He also tried to teach the old dog new tricks, and the old dog probably through that his 3 SB rings rendered him immune from having to do that. The other thing was that he refused to give in to Jerry's demand that he hire an offensive coordinator with a new system, knowing full well it would cost him his pink slip.

I think he deserves another shot and he probably will get another shot one day -- maybe sooner than later.

I was just running with the joke.

Deion Sanders... yah, we should bring that guy in...

The guy played and had experience with both offense and defense...

I'm sure Nate Clements and Asante Samuel watched him while they were growing up and would be completely willing to learn from him... plus, he might make T-New even more amazing than he already is...

Tons of energy would be around the team... press conferences would be interesting and the radio stations would benefit from having tons of listeners... he could be young and respected enough to talk some sense in players like T.O....

Plus, he digs the fact that Romo would spot him 10 in a game to 11 (or whatever he said)...

And we would probably go about 5-11...
