Nice job. I guess this would mean that one (if not both) guy between DLaw and Irving doesn't return. We ALL KNOW Jerry doesn't see the wisdom of loading up on DE's ala the NYG when they drafted JPP, even though they already had Osi, Tuck, and Kiwi on the roster. Worked out well for them...........now you have me imagining Chubb opposite DLaw. DAMN YOU BODI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doubt Bradley Chubb will be available in the first round for Dallas unless we finish the season below .500. ala meaning he's a top 10 pick

Also Ronnie Harrison will be a first round draft pick when its all said and done. Kid is top at his position

I don't think we can go DE in the 1st round again. Like it or not, we have to give Taco a chance to win the RDE job. We invested too much not to.
We can. This is a great draft for DE's.

If Lawrence is franchised, and with Taco's lack of production so far, the uncertainty of Randy Gregory, it is still very much a position of need.

It was a position of need, which is why we used our most valuable asset addressing it just 6 months ago. DEs take time; you can't just keep pouring assets at the same spot when a guy doesn't produce as a rookie. For better or worse, we picked our guy; we can't move on after one season.

We drafted Taco this year; we're paying Lawrence tons of money next year, and Irving tons of money the year after that. We can't keep throwing all of our assets at the pass rush, especially when it's the strength of our defense now. We have tons of holes to address, and DE isn't the need that it was last season.

Lawrence and Irving are sitting on strike 3 for longer suspensions. Taco is going to be okay but is not an elite pass rushing threat. It is such a crucial position and again, this draft is deep at the spot, so you can't (shouldn't) rule it out.

If we're so worried about Lawrence and Irving then we need to cut ties. We can't pour 1st round picks into their backups because we can't trust them.

We used a first round pick on Taco, specifically for his upside.

I won't rule it out in the event that talent slips, and an end is the clear BPA. But how often does that happen these days? IMO, we can't treat it as a top 5 need, now that Lawrence has broken out (maybe Irving, too).

Taco is not cutting it -

He was ranked the sixth best edge rusher in the draft by Sports Illustrated, sixth best defensive end by ESPN, and was ranked the seventh best edge rusher by Pro Football Focus

28th overall

sorry for a 28 pick he should have at least one sack a game - he will not be as good as Greg Ellis

One sack a game? Dude. Von Miller doesn't do that.

It doesn't matter what SI, ESPN, and PFF thought about Taco Charlton. Our front office deemed him worthy of the 28th pick in a pretty deep draft. They drafted him based on his upside, and they need to see that through. At the very least, they need to give him more than a year.

I didn't like the pick at the time and even less so today. But we've made an investment.

maybe but right now I go with these picks

Bradley Chubb, DE, N.C. State
Height: 6-4. Weight: 275.
Projected 40 Time: 4.80.
Projected Round (2018): Top-25.
10/21/17: Chubb has been dominating the competition this fall. He was superb to lead N.C. State to a road upset over Florida State, while also coming up big to help the Wolfpack knock off Louisville. Using speed to run around tackles and power to shed blocks, Chubb has destroyed one-on-ones. He has very active hands that he can use at the same time while flying upfield. Chubb looks like a potential difference-maker as a base end in the NFL. He is a perfect candidate to be a 4-3 defensive end. In 2017, Chubb has 37 tackles with 14 for a loss, 6.5 sack, one forced fumble and two passes batted.

9/1/17: Chubb was a tough defender for the Wolfpack in 2016, totaling 58 tackles with 22 tackles for a loss, 10.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and one pass batted. As a sophomore in 2015, he collected 5.5 sacks. Chubb has scheme flexibility along with a nice combination of size, speed, and instincts at the point of attack.

•Ronnie Harrison*, S, Alabama
Height: 6-3. Weight: 216.
Projected 40 Time: 4.59.
Projected Round (2018): 1-2.
10/14/17: In 2017, Harrison has 31 tackles with two sacks, two interceptions and a pass batted. He has played really well this year as he is an enforcer in the middle of the field. Harrison is a tough run defender who has the skills to cover. He is a strong safety type.

7/24/17: Harrison had a strong 2016 season for Alabama with 86 tackles, seven passes broken up and two interceptions. He notched two interceptions and six breakups as a freshman in 2015. As a junior, Harrison could take his game to another level. Scouting sources say that Harrison's physical talent is incredible.

I do see him as rotational guy

the guy is not producing

I’d take Harrison in round one in a heartbeat. I like Payne in the first too. Big, athletic 1-tech like we need. Kiser is a GREAT MLB, a tackling Machine Who is leading the ACC for the second straight year. If you want a box safety, Quin Blanding is second in the ACC in total tackles, for the second straight year, and will be pushing Luke Kuechly for the career conference record by the end of the season. I worry a little bit about pass coverage for both, though.

I will take the draft in the OP right now. Chubb is a monster. I just think he’ll be long gone.

I like Blanding as well, but think Marcus Allen would be my top choice for a SS in the 2nd.

Nice one Bodi, if it fell this way would really love the Harrison pick in the 2nd. I would have a real hard time choosing Chubb or Ferrell over Payne if all 3 were there. Always here that a 1-tech would have to be quick twitch, and exceptional to be taken that early. Payne would be our Fletcher Cox/Michael Brockers and with Collins next to him with Irving rotating in -damm !
And I like the rest of it as well : )

Move Ronnie Harrison to your 1st round pick & put Roquan Smith out of Georgia as your 2nd round pick. Take best O lineman or best D lineman in the 3rd.

Agree
Great defenses are built up the middle
How sad that our DT, safety and MLB are the positions most lacking and we wonder why the defense is horrible

I can live with DLaw, and Taco and Irving at DE

Give me Payne, Harrison and Kizer in the first 3 rounds and then a real D.C. and watch out
