************* ..... RIP Dandy Don ..... *************

RIP Dandy Don! I know he's up there throwing 95 yard touchdown passes to Bob Hayes again!

:star:

A great man, player, and announcer. I hate seeing the great ones go.

Turn out the lights the party is over............

I reminds me of what a special time it was with MNF in the seventies, the bar, big screen, party atmosphere, the intro music alone would make the whole bar go silent, used to send a chill up my spine.....RIP my friend, and give Howard some hell up there.

My memories of Meredith are from MNF when he would make OJ Simpson look really stupid at times (easy to do, I guess). What a personality. RIP Dandy Don. And thank you.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Don Meredith, one of the most recognizable figures of the early Dallas Cowboys and an original member of ABC's Monday Night Football broadcast team, died Sunday. He was 72.

Meredith's wife, Susan, told The Associated Press on Monday her husband died in Santa Fe after suffering a brain hemorrhage and lapsing into a coma. She and her daughter were at Meredith's side when he died.

The original Cowboy
History shows that Bob Lilly was the first player drafted by the Dallas Cowboys, but in fact it was Don Meredith who was the original Cowboy, Gil Brandt says. Meredith through the years "He was the best there was," she said, describing him as kind, warm and funny. "We lost a good one."

Sad sad stuff, I'm only 19 and he was playing long before my day, but it's a tough thing to hear. What was the cause of death?
