***Rip Garrett Thread***

Coaches coach. Players play. Today they all failed. O & D & Romo. Poor clock poor D when it counted. O line break down & 0 sacks. Two of the three picks on Romo. But we should have pulled it out. 2-2 sucks and looking at 2-3 unless Brady has a Romo type game again.

We built a 27-3 lead by passing 28 times and running it 14 times. We had to pass seven times (plus a sack) on the final drive. So, in between, we passed 12 times and ran it 10, which is fairly balanced. Unfortunately, three of those 12 were intercepted, and two were run back for touchdowns.

The one play call that could be questioned most, however, was throwing on the first play with a 30-27 lead and 4:22 remaining -- and not even a play-action pass, either. That's when you want to use the clock and pick up first downs, and we decide to air it out? Dumb.

This is what I'm talking about. I'm not saying you cease passing the ball, but by and large you stick by the run with a 24 point lead.

Very dumb indeed.

We ran on 1st and 2nd. Which is what these guy wanted. They dont even know what actually happened.

His first pick was NOT from the shot gun. It was a 1st and 10 pass from our own 27. Big deal.

The only shot gun was on 3rd down after trying to run.

Neither pick were vertical plays.

All lies and bunk by, I assume, guys who hated Garrett already. And this morning probably thought the elite Romo was carrying him. Until he reverted. Now we cant use him and these dumb throws are someone elses fault.

I don't mind the fact that we passed on 3rd and 2 but why tell the world that we are going to pass by going to the spread shot gun on 3rd and 2. Why not be in the run formation and have the defense guess to give us an edge. If we playaction from a run formation, it's harder for the defense to jump the route like they did on that INT.

Looking back, we probably win easily if we punt the ball every time after being up 27-3. I find it hard to believe that Detroit scores 24 points on all long drives in only 1.5 quarters. A few 5-6 play drives ending with punts wins the game easily. But that's not Garretts style. Never has been. With that said, I can't blame Garrett. As a coach you don't expect your QB to go brain-dead. Garrett's playcalling was clearly questionable, but Romo blew it.

his play calling is messed up I would rather have Rob Ryan as HC and a good O-cord.

Green Bay is up 42-17 in the 4th, and they're still throwing the ball. Yeah, Mike McCarthy is a horrible play caller.

Romo's toss to Witten was definitely a suspect play on his part. But thinking back, he never should have had the ball in his hands.

Also have some interceptions on defense and runs longer then 5 yards.

In game management blame all the way
ALL THE WAY

Almost any other coach doesn't do to their QB what Garrett did today

3rd qrt 27-3

Romo up to that point did all on offesne that was needed to walk out of there with a win

There is no other call but -----

Get the ball
1st down - run
2nd down - run
If there is a 3rd down, probably pass, but maybe even run
4th down - Punt and let the D that has only given up 3 pts go to work

You do this over and over again
Det makes it 27-10
Guess what Garrett --- you do it again
I mean, you do this until it is 27-17 if it even gets there

Milk the clock to death !
That team had no momentum down that much with our D putting the clamps on
17-6 is different then you can get mad at coaches for playing not to lose but 27-3
C'mon man the game is pretty much done

WHY ARE WE PASSING ON 1ST AND 10 UP 27-3 ?
When you are up by this much and their offense is doing nothing sometimes the best coaching decisions are the ridiculously obvious ones
C'mon man !

Romo won the game up to that point!
You run the ball and let that man coast until he is needed again
Why put him in the position to pass on 1st down up 27-3

"I'll get them with a playaction here!"

:bang2:

See my previous post. You don't go in the deep freeze offensively when there is still 11 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. By the way, Minnesota tried that last week against Detroit, and it didn't work for them.

I'm so sick of the people who never post here, wait until we have a bad game to post nothing but crap.

You mean, the defense is actually stopping someone?

up 24 points there is also no reason to stay on the gas when your D is playing like ours was. Play it safe and make the other team do it the hard way.

The answer to all of your questions is the roster itself. The fact of the matter is that for better or worse, THE best players on offense on this Cowboys' roster are the QBs, TE, and WR and that's who you have to take to the dance. If the offensive line and running backs were the best players, then you go with them.

It's really no different than what the Patriots do or Packers do, philosophically speaking.

its called common sense. No need to keep pushing and taking risks up 24 points.

It's typical JG's MO. We can be up by 4TDs but something bad happens and JG panics.

Because that is what Garrett loves to do. He's in love with the shotgun. His drive for this team to be a passing team clouds his decision to manage the game when the game is all but over by the start of the 2nd half.

All he had to do was run. Only pass when it was absolutely necessary. Yet he chose to try and put the game way out of reach and again, it backfired.

if we dont pass the ball a single time for the rest of the game up 27-3, and go 3 n out for the rest of the game, we still win the game with the way our defense was playing.

NFL coaching 101.

Why no rip Rex thread?I know there were two pick six but the D gave up 20. I said a couple of weeks ago the D needs to hold the teams to under 16 for this team to win games.
