Interesting.
BPA vs. a potential for a defensive playmaker.

Not quite sure the overall draft grade for Ross exceeds the grade of the subsequent DE's.
If TWill leaves via free agency, they do not sign Brice Butler, & with an aging Dez, WR might be an option.
Stay away from dudes that have any medical issues, injury prone, and head cases, however.

i really like Ross but i would take Takkarist McKinley in that position.

After looking at McKinley's film on draftbeakdown.com, I think he would be best used as a blitzing SLB on "run" downs and then move to WDE on passing downs. Looks very small to handle 3-down DE work..........but, DAMN he's explosive off the line (especially when they played Colorado).

I wonder if there are guy sin the 2nd and 3rd round that could be field stretchers at WR thus leaving the first round and maybe 2nd round as defensive picks. I am a BPA guy with some caveats. If guys are bunched closely together in your rankings, you can skew need if need be. So like you said, I am not sure Ross would be a guy at 28 that would be ranked WAY higher on our board than some of the DEs listed.

DEFENSE indeed. McKinley, Harris, the Villanova kid with the hard to pronounce name, Charlton of Michigan are ALL DE's I'd be interested in. I know Ross is interesting but, not for me.

If we signed someone like JPP, fine.

Hard to pass over those DEs though.

Is there anybody that would be the tiniest bit surprised if WR or TE was the pick?

Dez will be 29 in November. He is in what should be his prime. When his current contract ends, he will be in the "aging" category (31), but not yet, IMO.

It's looking thin in the draft.

Im thinking we need to splurge in FA on a DE and hopefully land a corner like Dre Kirkpatrick for around 8 mill.

If a WR is the highest rated player on your board at #28 then you take him.

No questions asked.

They simply aren't going to "splurge" on any higher priced free agents.

Ain't gonna happen.

They'll look at guys that are gonna make $3 to $5 mil this upcoming season.

You're most likely right and that's what I would bet on them doing but if they want a legit pass rushing prospect I think they most likely played themselves out of that in the draft.
