You're most likely right and that's what I would bet on them doing but if they want a legit pass rushing prospect I think they most likely played themselves out of that.

There really aren't any high quality FA DE's out there. Arizona is going to franchise Jones. JPP wants to go back to NYG. Ingram ain't 4-3 DE.

They'll pick up a $3 mil per season guy.

This defense led the league in QB sacks over the last 6 games of the season.

I'd love an "elite" DE but I don't think it's needed to get this defense comfortably in the top-10.

A good DE would do it. The DT's are shaping up as a good group.

We just saw what having a lack of quality pass rushing ends results in. Most sacks in the league the last 6 games was fool's gold. When it mattered most, against a top notch QB and a quality OL, the DEs were no match. That's what you are going to see come playoff time every year.

DE needs to be upgraded and in a big way. The problem, however, is as you said there are no real big options out there in FA. So unfortunately we are likely left to find that $3MM guy, and hope that Irving and Mayowa develop, Tapper shows real potential and the DE(s) we take in the draft can make a Noah Spence like impact.

I'd luv for them to find a guy who can get 14 sacks, but it probably isn't going to happen.

They're going to have to approach this from a "Seattle" perspective of having a few guys that get between 5-8.

i really like Ross but i would take Takkarist McKinley in that position.
McKinley seems like a good pick. He has the size, speed and athleticism. But he is raw as heck as a passrusher. He's very poor at using his hands and leverage. It will take a couple years under Marinelli before he's a real force I would think.

After looking at McKinley's film on draftbeakdown.com, I think he would be best used as a blitzing SLB on "run" downs and then move to WDE on passing downs. Looks very small to handle 3-down DE work..........but, DAMN he's explosive off the line (especially when they played Colorado).
I believe that Colorado game on youtube is sped up, so everyone looks faster. It's probably about 1.2x speed, actually. I got out a stop watch and compared it to the game clock to be sure.

They said Dak would take a couple of years too. You never know. That's why Rod gets paid what he does, to minimize that learning curve.

I think Rang just updated his previous mock moving Dallas up to 28 and gave them the same player. Ross may have made some sense when the Dallas pick was in the 30's and the pass rushers had come off the board before their pick. It makes a lot less sense at 28 with the pass rush options he now has going after their pick.

how many times did Dak go deep to Williams? Ross would be a waste because Dak isn't launching the ball like that. Oj Howard makes much more sense for Dak if we want a pass catcher

Or a guy who can catch ball out wide (TWill), slot (Beasley), backfield (Dunbar), jet sweep (Whitehead), returner (Whitehead) or run the ball (McFadden/Morris) when Zeke rests.

If going to draft offense then take Christian McCaffrey. He can do it all at elite level. That will keep me from screaming obscenities at Linehan when he takes Zeke out on 3rd and short and puts in Dunbar instead.

At #28 there will likely be 6 to 10 guys with a very similar draft grade. Ross perhaps among them. I doubt the Cowboys would take the WR over a DE if the grade is the same or close.

Good player though. He is described as a Desean Jackson clone. We could one of those.

"They" may have. But when I reviewed Dak's games I thought he was NFL ready. Of course I never thought he'd play AS GOOD as he did. But he looked like the best QB in the draft to me for sure.
