While i dont think he is all that as a DC, the year he got fired...he was the scapegoat that saved JG job.

You kind of answered your own question. Kiffin was the DC in 13' so why would marinelli have to be "spared" he was a position coach,and had a bunch of scrubs playing at the highest level of their careers.
