I'd like to see him be able to comeback this season and help out in some form. That would be very nice.
I am pulling for exactly this. I posted this because after the Atlanta game the clock really starts ticking on whether he can. If only he played an instrument in a heavy metal band.

Would he take Columbo's spot? Can he play LT? Where is he playing?

BIGG and Kosier are studs..

Oh okay. So we would have to see Columbo go down for him to have any impact.
I don't see it that way. Quality depth is an impact.

In the unlikely event we do activate Robert Brewster this season, the most likely candidate right now would be Duke Preston.

Preston got cut again yesterday supposedly.

Corey Procter's role on kickoff return has helped save a roster spot, but it probably wouldn't be too hard to use someone else there if we liked Preston better as a player. Pat McQuistan filled that role the previous two seasons and he could do it again or we might see fit to release him.

It'd be surprising to me if they didnt put Brewster on IR, but I'd guess either McQuistan or Holland would be the choice to be released.

Haven't seen anything regarding Preston since he was resigned on the 12th. Link?

EDIT: This may be the reason for the confusion:

We have the ability to post blogs via BlackBerry and two posts that were sent Saturday were finally added to the site tonight ... four days later. Obviously, something went haywire and we think we have fixed the problem.
So, Chauncey Washington is back on the practice squad and Duke Preston is on the 53-man roster.

IF Brewster can go, who gets the cut? Especially if Rossum works out as the big ST threat they are hoping for?

Roster is tight! :nervous:

Does anybody know the exact point at which we would have to cut somebody? My guess would be when the team starts practicing him, because I think you have to be on the roster to practice with the team. Anybody know for sure?

PUP is an acronym for Physically Unable to Perform. To qualify a player has to be injured before Training Camp begins. If he practices even one time during Camp he is not eligible.

OTAs is an acronym for Organized Team Activities. A new way of saying Mini Camps.

Being on PUP, a player must sit out the first six games of the season.

After that, the team has a three week window to decide if the player can practice.

If he does, the team then has another three weeks from the time he starts practicing to determine if he will be active.

So it's a maximum of 12 weeks, not including the bye.

That means a decision would have to be made following our Thanksgiving Day game against the Raiders.

But it could come sooner if the player is ready or if the staff decides injured reserve is the best course of action.

And I just saw this blurb in Josh Ellis' Blog:

Phillips also said it was not likely rookie tackle Robert Brewster (torn pectoral muscle) would be able to contribute this season when his Physically Unable to Perform exemption runs out.

That's a bummer.

But it doesn't dampen my hopes that we finally hit on an O Lineman in the draft.
