Robert Brewster?

Big Nate started pretty slowly and eventually developed into a pretty dang good OL for us. Same with Tuinei. Heck, he started so bad that he wasn't even an OL for us at first.

:laugh2:

Give the kid some time and lets see what happens.

Speaking of which, it is exactly this reason that I would love to see Siavii get a look at OG if Brent beats him out for the backup NT spot.

If you do that be prepared to draft a QB in the first round next year.

:laugh2: Have to agree with you on this one Realist. Isn't Siavii 32 this year anyway?

Hey, I don't distribute the fact that he could very well end up at guard. That's where several of the draft guides projected him and certainly he has the body type for it.

The guy is like what 6'4"? To me that's a little short for tackle.

But certainly no harm in letting him try the same position he played in college... If he can't make it at RT, then try him at guard.

Larry Allen never had the traditional "tackle-shape" either.
Nothing wrong at all with a 6-4 OT. Height isn't even what the scouts and coaches look for, it's arm length that matters.

Actually I dare u to show me any current or past successful OT who had his body type. Now if were talking guard...he looks the part.

Tarik Glenn

Not that I'm comparing the ability level between Brewster and Glenn, but the physical look is similar.

If the guy didn't pan out at either T or G, then yeah, I think it would be a major disappointment. But if he ended up being a starter at say guard, would that be a disappointment? Gosh, I don't think so.

And look at what the team has done, uncovering an acceptable LT as a 4th rounder.

But the bottom line is that I think we're way too early in this "game" to label Brewster a failure at T period.

Let's give it a little more time and not be so quick to label guys.

If Brewster starting at guard would be a disappointment can you imagine how embarrassed Jerry must be over taking Larry in the 2nd round?

Quincy Carter started poorly too and look how that turned out.

I paid close attention to Brewser...and was getting sick to my stomach. Ok maybe I'm exaggerating.
Patience is required on this one.

When I said that (above) , I was referring to this sequence described by Wood.

Brewster

Beat cleanly to outside by Frostee Rucker (#92) on his first play …Alex Barron was also beat and his guy caused kitna to fumble the ball.

Brewster playing LT…fell down on running play matched up against Pat Sims (#90)

On next play Brewster failed to pick up stunt with defensive player getting in McGee face.

On next play…Brewster picks up wrong guy (picks up the blitzing linebacker – who Choice should be picking up) allowing DE Michael Johnson (#93) to get a easy sack. Choice gives Brewster some words after the play.

Failed to get his hands on DE Johnson who stunted inside and hit McGee as he tried to scamble.

Brewster did start to play better midway into 3rd quarter

It's just one game, so we'll see. To be fair, I gave up watching him specifically after awhile, so he may have done better.
