There has been a lot of talk on the Draft forum lately of Robert Sands vs. Kenny Tate.

You have a chance to watch Robert Sands play tonight against N.C. State in the Champs Sports Bowl on ESPN.

Sands is #2 on West Virginia.

Another couple of players worth watching are RB Noel Devine (#7) and WR Jock Sanders (#9).

Devine is a great change of pace back with game-breaking speed. When healthy, I'd take Devine over a guy like Jacquizz Rodgers all day, every day.

Sanders may find his niche as a slot receiver/running back, with midget WRs seemingly becoming in vogue. If Danny Woodhead can find a role, I see no reason why Sanders couldn't.

Well, I know what that is about. It is humorous beyond just the obvious attempt at a backhanded insult.

Devine is faster in the 40. He's a Senior while Quizz is a Junior. If Quizz stays I am pretty sure his draft stock will end up higher than Devine's. I like Devine and feel no need to bash him in order to prop up the guy I have been pimping. I will say this though in answer to your "all day, every day" line.

Rodgers has 17 more TDs in 1 fewer year, averages more yards per carry, is the far superior receiver, and will pass Devine's career rushing total rather early next year if he does stay.

Makes me think you comment is personal, not objective. But that's cool. I like Devine a lot. Good kid.

Robert Sands looks like he has all the tools, but he doesn't seem to go all out on every play.

Lol, unbelievable, only you would have the ego to think that anytime someone invokes the name JacQuizz Rodgers, that it somehow is a reflection on you good or bad.

I brought up JaQuizz Rodgers because he's similiar in stature to Noel Devine. That's it.

Rodgers has 17 more TDs in 1 fewer year, averages more yards per carry, is the far superior receiver, and will pass Devine's career rushing total rather early next year if he does stay.

Hmmm, let's see, Devine's freshman season he split carries behind Steve Slaton, so I'm guessing that may have impacted his numbers. Rodgers has also had 250+ carries in all three of his seasons played. Devine never cracked 241 carries in any of his four seasons at WV.

And why is Rodgers a better receiver? Because he was force fed the ball more?

Devine did more with the ball when he caught it, as witnessed by his 7.35 yp/rec (6.9 yp/rec for Rodgers). You might argue that isn't much of a difference and that would be exactly my point.

"He averages more yards per carry." Rodgers averaged 4.6 to Devine's 4.4 this season. How about we take a look at what they have averaged throughout their careers?

Devine: 5.9 ypc on 721 carries.
Rodgers: 4.9 ypc on 788 carries.

I'll take that full yard difference with Devine.

Makes me think you comment is personal, not objective. But that's cool. I like Devine a lot. Good kid.

Right, because I like Devine over Rodgers it means I'm not being objective. I like Rodgers, he's a good college running back, but I'll take the more explosive Devine over an upright running, average speed/quickness, 5'7" 190 lb power back. Not to mention, Devine has experience returning kicks in college.

Robert Sands had an opportunity to stop the first score but failed miserably to tackle the guy. A lot to be desired in run support, I know he is a FS but his tackling wasn't sound on that play.

I don't know. I watch Sands play and think he isn't fast enough to play Free Safety and not physical enough to play Strong Safety (at the NFL level). Just my opinion, sorry if I just ran over someone's pet cat.

He's not mine and neither is Kenny Tate.

I was just giving heads up to folks who wanna watch him live.

No I didn't think he was yours, but someone here in the Zone loves him.

Heck, last year my pet cat Taylor Mays was skinned, thrown out into the street, and ran all over by my forum buddies here.

I'm watching Iowa's Tyler Sash now.

I'm higher on him than most here. His physical numbers don't jump out at you but the kid is a football player.

I don't know if that's in reference to me or not, I like Sands, but I'm not in love with him. We're platonic. :laugh2:

.

Devine is the DeSean Jackson of running backs, including the baggage. He should be available in the late 2nd, early 3rd round, which would be an excellent target after trading down from the early 2nd round where we are.

The one thing, though, in order to get him we would have to revamp our backfield completely. That means moving Felix Jones or Choice. Jones and Devine are alike, although Devine is much, much quicker and faster. However, since Jones is not exactly a full time back, we will need to get a " big back " or short yardage specialist. What we cannot afford is to have all three sharing the ball next season, but I really like Devine.

I like Devine over JacQuizz, but I'm not exactly endorsing picking him at all.

I actually think Felix showed a lot as a receiver this season and that aspect of his game can continue to be developed and utilized.

I agree, I think we need a big back as I'm assuming as we all are that MBIII is a goner after this season.

Are you watching this game? It's a great game. I was this close to driving over there after work and seeing if I could get a cheap ticket. I should have.
