Just watched this last night and was left with a couple of "wonderings". OK, more than a couple.
First off all, I wonder why the HOF is situated in Cleveland, don't they know their football team sucks? I hardly think of Cleveland as the birthplace of R&R. I would take Memphis or Philly over Cleveland.
Next, I was wondering how they go about the nomination and final selection process because The Moody Blues waiting this long is nuts. They were one of the first bands in the British Invasion and their body of work and longevity is only rivaled by The Stones. They should have been inducted years ago.
Then, I wondered why Mark Knopfler didn't attend and nothing was mentioned about it and they didn't perform. That was a disappointment. His pickin' is among my favorite of all time. He personifies the description of "lyrical guitar player" as McCartney does the bass.
The Cars and Moodies weren't very good as time has taken it's toll on the vocal chords and members of the bands and Rick Ocasek lost his longtime balance for vocals, the overlooked and underrated Benjamin Orr for many years unless you are a devotee as I am. But they can all still play. But I was also wondering about why the two drum kits?
I am not a big Bon Jovi fan and his induction speech was too long and I am not a Howard Stern fan but his induction introduction was the highlight of the show, nailed it. Interesting to see Bon Jovi's buddy, Robert Kraft, at his table. There was lots and lots of eye candy and he doesn't even qualify as a wadded up wrapper. However, they can still knock it out of the park and Bon Jovi is a great front man and can still hit those notes but he does struggle a little more...don't we all?
Would someone in charge please capitalize that r in the headline. I was always on the rock side and less on the roll but it's wrong. Might as well cap the of as I thought I had capped the entire headline. I should proof read before hitting post but I am doing good just to read it the first time as I type it. Syncing mind and fingers takes work.
Could also add in Detroit ...Just watched this last night and was left with a couple of "wonderings". OK, more than a couple.

First off Green Day is freaking fantastic, but not sure why they would go in today as they are still playing heavily. As groups tend to stick around they obviously could not have the 5 year rule so maybe they need to have the 55 rule, 55yrs old till eligible. Was curious myself so I had to go look up what the process was......

The bigger question I have is what business do Green Day, Joan Jett and Bon Jovi{among others}have in the RRHOF? It took Deep Purple and Rush FOREVER to get while lesser acts got in much sooner. The place is a joke.
Madonna was the voice of a generation......Can you see who is not in the R'n"R Hall of Fame and who is with this link below???
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rock_and_Roll_Hall_of_Fame_inductees#Performers
I don't see INXS,The Go-Gos, The Fixx, The Monkees, and yet garbage like Madonna makes it in?
Madonna was the voice of a generation......
......of tone deaf, trashy women.
I haven't seen her in years, and I'd like to keep it that way.She has aged rather well, wouldn't you say?

The best acceptance speech ever was by Alex Lifeson of Rush...worth the watch.
Agree 100% with your post.I'm not a fan of letting in rap artists. I get that there is some relationship, but there are a lot of true rock and roll artists that are not in. Bad Company, Doobie Brothers and Jethro Tull are bands that jump out to me as omissions. I can appreciate that it takes time to get all deserving bands in, but R&R artists should get in before rap artists.
And what about Steppenwolf - the band that gave birth to the term "heavy metal"
And if you are going to put in a rock and roll chick from the 70's/80's, wouldn't Pat Benatar go in before Joan Jett?
Joan Jett sings about loving rock n' roll. That's probably the only factor on her side. Personally, I don't like anything she does, including her terrible acting. Benatar is much more deserving.I'm not a fan of letting in rap artists. I get that there is some relationship, but there are a lot of true rock and roll artists that are not in. A lot of the R&R inductees look like they could be in a Motown Hall of Fame.
Nailed it sir......This was the acceptance speech the RRHOF deserved. They left Rush out for years because the RRHOF has always essentially been Jann Wenner's personal circle jerk and he's a pretentious ******. There is literally no rhyme or reason for why and who and when. Thin Lizzy is a glaring omission. Motorhead is another. You could argue that Iron Maiden is THE iconic 80s Heavy Metal band. John Coltrane had about as great an influence on Rock and Roll as any one individual. Motley Crue was an absolute stalwart in the 80s and early 90s. I'm not a huge Radiohead fan but it doesn't take a genius to understand their influence. The list is so long you have to laugh at the credibility of the place.
