It wasn't long but a few things.
He develops the man first, then the player, so is disappointed in the suspended players.
So now, keep pushing the young players, and get a few back later on.
Irving, nickname is the big dino or deano, not sure how it would be spelled. Togh and can bend for a big guy, same with Russell. Both are going to play well.
Russell, has a high football IQ, they both stay with it and have passion.
Tapper, same as Irving and Russell, sped, good strength, getting to be consistent.
T. Crawford, can take the next step this year and is very motivated.
Mo, Scandrick's advice to them, stay off the ground, don't go to the ground.. Rod agreed and said Mo is a heck of a talent.
Jones, move to FS, transition will be good, as he played some there last year., and being settled at one position now. So he has range, speed and open field tackling is very good.
Going up against this offense is great, they need to be prepared every day. If they aren't they will get knocked into the goal post.

Oh by the end of the preseason we'll have them contending with the 85 Bears for the best defense ever.
It's just how this time of year is.. For all teams....

we will get to see what they really are in sept when they begin to play there regular season schedule until then its all just speculation

My friend was at TC this week and said the defense looked TERRIBLE. Hopefully, its just TC and they look that way because real football with pads is just starting for them.
Its the first week of August, so I'm not putting any stock into how they look right now. It seems the defense always comes along a little slower than the offense in TC anyways.

I've been reading the defense had the offenses number the first day. I also heard tapper and Irving and Russel look good, plus mo Claiborne

He sounded confident last year too .... guy has proven to be a hack that just repeats whatever script Jerry writes for him.

Actually it's usually the defense that comes along first because they're typically dealing with less of a schematic learning curve.
How they look in camp doesn't matter anyway. Some players are rounding into shape, gets are playing at camp speed. Young players trying to make the roster are playing for their football lives. And fan stories from camp are often unclear on the purpose of drills or what they should be looking for and so everybody's got conflicting reports on new players.
Pretty much have to see what the coaches actually do with players to know which way they're leaning until we get to the dress rehearsal game. The rest is just fun stuff to pass time.

Defense wasn't bad last year he seemed confident in 2014 too. Defense was second in turnovers and actually got off the field on 3rd downs. He hasn't exactly worked with all pro talent on the line. I think he's done a solid job

Some things can need improvement without everything needing improvement. The start of camp this year at CZ has been just ridiculous with the volume of silly complaining. Did last year really ruin this year for you so completely? I mean, I get it, because last year sucked, but there were a lot of different reasons for that. None of them were because the DC is a 'hack.'

I like Marinelli but I wish he was just a DL coach and we had a guy that knew how to use a little more smoke and mirrors.
I don't trust this type of scheme to get critical stops regardless of how talented the roster is. I don't like soft/bend don't break football.
It's a good defense to use when you have a 2 score lead though.
