Very interesting how Rod Smith couldn't even make the Raiders 53 man roster? Hmm...

UDFA rookie Sewo Olonilua is a similar clone as Rod Smith. Same height (6'3"), similar 40 times (Rod Smith: 4.52 / Sewo Olonilua: 4.56) and similar weight (Rod Smith: 232 / Sewo Olonilua: 240). Sewo definitely would be cheaper to keep, but Rod has experience.

Very interesting to see if the Cowboys bring in Rod for a talk or not?

dude pollard got how many carries and zeke the rest, we dont need 3rd RB on the active roster..waste of space, go deeper some where else..that TCU kid should make the roster at FB and can easily be rod smith when needed..

Surely you understand backups aren't just for what they will be doing in every game when everyone is healthy, but also are protection in the event someone gets injured.

They Cowboys have always carried a 3rd RB, or in some cases a FB who could fill in at RB in a pinch, and so has McCarthy. I suppose they could go with 2 and count on getting someone worthwile to clear waivers and make it to the practices squad, but I think it's more likely somebody will be kept to fill that role and to contribute on special teams.

Knowing who is on the roster in training camp isn't the same as knowing who will make the team or who the team considers a viable 3rd RB.

its hilarious how most here quote chapter and diverse RBS are easy to find and replace , a dime dozen and you are worried about our third back? umm if Zeke or pollard goes down we go grab one working at home depot and we will be fine according to most.20 Rbs with better stats will be on the street and can be picked up when you need them vs taking up a roster spot..how many games has Zeke missed due to injurys? ill wait..

I didn't promote Smith, I just said it's unclear if we already had a good 3rd RB option on the team.

im clear we dont need one as we will utilize the Fb as our in game 3rd RB option and in an emergency that thirds guy will be out there to be sighed at the drop of hat should we need him..
