Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain sees a lot of similarities between head coach Jason Garrett and Alabama head coach Nick Saban.
On paper, these two coaches are far apart. Garrett is just entering his fifth NFL season as a head coach and has been to the playoffs just once. Saban, as a college coach, has won four national championships and two AP National Coach of the Year awards.
Having played for both coaches, McClain does see a lot of the same.
"Coach Garrett is one of a kind, like coach Saban is one of a kind," McClain said during training camp, via the Dallas Morning News. "They do things different, but at the same time they are similar just because they preach the same attitude. And it's just bringing your best, whatever it is, every day. And they push you to bring the best out of you. For me, that's like being at home. It ain't fair to a player if a coach ever gives you slack. Coach Saban didn't do it. And coach Garrett don't do it either. If I had to say the one thing is in common with those two, that would be it."
Garrett preaches the attitude of "doing the right thing" and being the "right kind of guy." Saban has five life lessons in “The Process” which falls in line with what Garrett preaches — No. 5, "Mental toughness and discipline are paramount."

Actions speak louder than words.

You're good on the field Rolando and you say the right things but your off the field actions still show that you are just a knucklehead.

The only off the field I know of is weed and lack of desire for football practice.
Thats plenty bad,his been a disappointment cause i thought with this second/third chance
he'd be committed

McClain is on a 1 year deal he will have to prove himself.

Rolando McClain signed a 1 year, $3,000,000 contract with the Dallas Cowboys, including a $500,000 signing bonus, $500,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $3,000,000. In 2015, McClain will earn a base salary of $750,000, a signing bonus of $488,505, a roster bonus of $1,312,500 and a workout bonus of $250,000. McClain has a cap hit of $2,812,500 while his dead money value is $500,000.

As for his take on Garrett and Sabin he would know best since he played for both

I tend to be a little slower to judge men and woman I have never met myself.

Im sure he's a great guy. Im not judging him in that sense.

As a fan of a football team though he is not dependable.

Whether its worrying about him getting suspended or getting a nick that keeps him out of practice all week.

The guy is a total BA football player though. Might be the best at his position when he's available.

Sabin sucked in the NFL as the HC. Unless JG plans to leave the NFL for the NCAA, I hope JG is nothing like Sabin for Cowboys sake.

Not a Garrett fan but the guy knows how to relate to Pro players.

A lot of these college coaches want to treat pro's like they are 19 year olds and not men and that's why they usually end up going back to college.

If ever there was a good example of pigeonholing someone, the above would be it.

“It’s life. I ain’t perfect,” McClain said, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “Nobody else is. I am working on perfecting my flaws and getting back and being healthy and doing my best to put it behind me. When I do I come back, I will try to improve the defense and build on the success they are having.”
I know he is reciting the company line but still it sounds good. Let's just hope he is serious.

McClain just needs someone to teach him how to be a pro....so far he has not done that.

But...when it comes to playing football, other teams better watch out.

The rah-rah crap doesn't work in the NFL. Spurrier found out the hard way.

To which, he went on to say...

Lots of those around here right now. McClain shut the door on the Seahawks and the Giants with stops to seal the win.

Find where I said he was a bad player.

You guys know he got himself suspended 4 games right? I'm not just pulling these things out of thin air.

If he was a dependable guy Dallas or someone else would've locked him up.
