Was listening to some sports radio and the Defensive line coach of Colaraodo Sal sunseri ?

Was talking about best linebacker he ever seen... He was LB coach at Alabama during McClain years. Says he is the top 3 most dominant defensive college player he has ever seen.. He mentioned Ray Lewis and Clowney as the other two..

Man what a waist! We saw a few short glimpses here in Dallas.
The best I’ve seen here in Dallas. And it wasn’t brief as he single handily turned our defense around when Lee got hurt in TC. Dude was an enforcer and it was a pleasure watching him if only for a a few seasons

David Irving was an absolute monster too. Didn’t have the same college pedigree as Rolando. But David was incredibly dominant for small stretches like I haven’t seen since.
McClain, Irving and Randy Gregory…. what could have been. Great talent but weak willpower that would succumb to drug addiction.

I feel more sorry for their families who they could have supported and made their lives easier. Dammmm shame.

Yep. Lots of folks with unbelievable talent who had loose screws between the ears. Gregory was the latest who wasted God given talent. Wonder if all these guys are currently bouncers or living under an overpass somewhere.

He displayed all the evidence of a strong body but a weak mind.
His self-evaluation was drastically overstated, to be sure!

The biggest waste of talent I've ever seen and we really needed him too. I loved how wherever he caught up with the ball carrier was exactly where the play stopped.
NOT EVER but on the list which i bet is long.. Ie Aldon Smith types...I mean off the top of my had imagine if Aaron Hernadez doesn't go to prison. Josh Gordon?

He was a heck of a talent, he destroyed offensive lines to get to the RB or QB.........another what could have been.......Cowboys have had a few of those.

I read after he quit, he stated he had a hip problem and it was bone grinding on bone.
He probably used questionable drugs like purple drank to deal with the pain.
He needed surgery, and it would require healing time, and cowboys wanted him to play now.

He later got the surgery.

So he was playing with the bad hip. But he also had personal issues too.

I often wonder if Irving actually loved the game, could he have been our version of Chris Jones?
could you imagine of those reclamation FA Dallas brought in

DE-Aldon Smith, IDL-Irving- and MLB-Mcclain all on the field in the triangle at the same time? :omg:
