Actually, that was only ONE media source - Mike Florio with PFT. He reported it and forced other media insiders to address it. But Adam Schefter said he heard about it but never could verify it, which is why he didn't go with the story.

I wouldn't necessarily compare the Dez video with this story. The NFL typically doesn't announce drug suspensions until it is ready, even though the information may be known and reported by an insider.

The same was done regarding Ro McClain. Media insiders leaked his "indefinite suspension" long before the NFL announced it.
Question: does the NFL: announce appeals or wait until a suspension has been handed down and the appeal process completed before making any announcements? I'm not at all clear on that process.

They can only announce once the appeals process has been completed. Until then, the suspension is not in effect.

Leaks, on the other hand....

Thank you. I do recall reading that the league office said they were unaware of any further suspension when this first came out...why would they say that if, in fact, he had been suspended and an appeal was underway. Why wouldn't they just say "we can't comment on that", or words to that effect?

If they say that they can't comment, they lend credence to it. If they say that they are unaware, it stops the speculation in its tracks.

nobody cares anymore..he will be broke and homeless in a few years if not incarcerated for something......he follows a pattern that we have all seen before with some players.

How can they say they are unaware if, in fact, they are aware? It seems to me that they wouldn't knowingly lie about it. That said, nothing the league does would shock me.

with the skill, talent and physical attributes this guys has, his demise is one of the big failures in recent memory. I had super high hopes for him when we signed him a few years ago. I have to imagine he has just as much mental issues as addiction problems. If so, it's hard to put all blame on him but damn, he could've had it all. Too bad for his children and loved ones who'm he could've helped and set up for life. I read his net worth is somewhere around $3M, which sounds like a lot, but as we've seen before, goes quickly with the life styles these guys have come accustom to. He never came across to me as a bad person to me.....good luck to him and if in the end football just wasn't his thing, I hope he's got or will get things together.

There were 3 of them who threw away a second chance the Cowboys gave them. McClain, Greg Hardy, and Randy Gregory. McClain and Hardy are finished in the league while Gregory has one foot out the door.

If those boneheads realized what they had and got it together, this team would be unstoppable. Too bad...

Are you seriously asking that question?

I'm aware that some don't care, but a lot of us do. I actually would love to see him get his life in order, first and foremost. If we get a productive player beyond that, then all the better.

He was a cheap rental, but he's more of a Geo Prism down three quarts with a loud transmission than the Rolls Royce we were hoping for.

An inexpensive mistake.

I was, but you're not obliged to answer it. I think that the league, for credibility's sake if nothing else, wouldn't outwardly and knowingly make a public announcement that could be easily proven to be false. Maybe I'm that gullible, I don't know.

The part that hurts you as a fan the most with this story is that Dallas Cowboy or not, the kid is talented. It sucks to see him waste it. I get it, maybe football isn't his passion, but it should be! He could really be somebody. Now he's, who?

What harm would there be by saying they are unaware? They can always fall back on the fact that they cannot comment until all appeals have been heard. They also can indicate that they don't want to unnecessarily lend credence to an allegation that may not hold up under an appeal. There's literally no risk to them doing this.

Ohhhhh Canada............;)
I could be wrong but I don't think "purple drank" is legal in Canada either. Smoking pot to relieve anxiety is one thing, abusing narcotics is another.

I guess we just disagree on that. To me, there's a lot of difference in them making a false statement (saying they're not aware when, in fact, they are) over a "no comment" type of statement. You could be right...I just wouldn't think they would handle it that way.

im not quite that sensitive....his personal life and poor choices are his business and dont concern me outside of him currently being a Cowboys player. he had a great opportunity to finally get it together....he chose not to....throwing away a lucrative career was a choice he made. ill save my sensitivity for someone more deserving.

You've already written his epitaph, but I haven't. You certainly may end up being right in the end, but I'm willing to let this play out. I haven't given up on him as a person or a player. I wish him well. I wish everyone well...Time will tell. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
