i'll give him a bag of cornnuts and an empty twinkie.

he wants $. i dont' care what you pay him, $10 or $10,000,000 - money is his focus. i'm tired of that crap.

Well then you are tired of the NFL.

Because everyone of these players wants money.

You think Miles Austin is going to sign a new long term deal that doesn't pay him big money for his monster year and potential to do it again?

No. He won't be cutting the Cowboys any deals here because he loves the game.

I have no beef with players wanting to get payed.

Most players are done by 31 years old. Your retiring at 31 years old.

You also have no idea when your last down is. You need to be secured with money.

He's simply just trying to get the most money he can while he can.

I do hate when players making 17 million in basketball want to make 25 million but that's another story and just plain greed.

wash me with more surprise - you miss my point too.

i know they want money. so do i. everyone who works for a living wants money.

we agree there, it would seem.

but in my job, i can't put in a great year and coast for 5 more.

the demands of players who want nothing more than $ tire me. i won't take the same brush and paint them all like it seems you just did. some want to play.

the game interests more than the prima donas.

don't try to simplify what i say. you have to get it first and i've yet to see you "get" me.

go blog. someone out there is in dire need of controversy.

i have no idea when my last day is.

that will work when i want a raise.

we scream that players make too much money for what they do, then we shut up and pay them.

I think at 4-5 million a year I would consider it.

4yrs/20 mil. 13 guarenteed.

Cutting Hamlin is going to save Jerry 5 million in real dollars that he would be paying him if he stayed.

Get err done Jerry.

I give him $5.5 mil and incentives where he can make $8 mil if he produces some big numbers.

And I give him the starting job by releasing Hamlin.

Four year deal.

Screw that, that's basically what we did with Hamlin. Gave him 2.5 to prove himself. He did for a year, then stunk it up.

Would you rather give Hamlin the $5.5 this season or give it to Rolle?

Then we have another year to draft some kids. There isn't anyone besides Alan Ball who can step up and replace Hamlin. I see people talking about Mike Hamlin, but the Cowboys see him as a Strong Safety.

Then if Rolle stinks we start the kid we just drafted this season next season.

No?

Why whenever someone makes an argument for players making crazy amounts of money do they bring up this early retiring, short career crap?
Why is it unreasonable for a man that played in the NFL to actually get a job when he retires at 31? A real job. Many people change careers after 30. Why does their short "football" careers mean they should make 50 million dollars?

I understand its a business and they are the best in the world at what they do. And its entertainment and they bring the revenue in ect...... so i am not saying they dont deserve it or that i wouldnt be asking for the same.....

But put to the rest the short career. They received a free college education. Let them use it to work.

I'd rather we cut Hamlin, and get a kid from the draft.

Some want to play? I think they all want to play. And I doubt any of them are worrying about their contracts when the games begin. But now is the time to worry about getting paid.

And they are all doing just that.

You live in a fantasy land.

And stop trying to act like you are such a deep thinker. You are on a football message board. Get a clue.

Ok. So we start Ball and develop the kid.

The $5.5 mil goes somewhere else then.

I can deal with that.

I can deal with that.

I'd rather pay 1.2 mil for 3/4 INTs, rather than 5.5 mil is all I'm saying.

Whoever we get at safety isn't going to be snagging 4 INTs consistently. Unless we draft Eric Berry.

i don't deny football has gotten to be a rich mans sport.

some of them even deserve it.

i'd rather watch someone with lesser skill but more heart play than an ****** who demand $8 million dollars to play a game.

i'm talking about where i am as a $ bearing fan is going, i dont' give a flickchit where mr "how do i pay for my 2nd lamborghini" does.

i wanna get back to the game, not the hype, stupidity and payday.

You didn't really make this point very clear. You just said he was money hungry.

I'd rather there be a guy who love the game as well but it's just not gonna happen anymore.

Guys are all about money 1st. The only guys who may even be about the game are guys who are so good that they get the money anyway. Either way the cost has gone up and it seems pretty foolish to write a guy off because he wants the money.

so Rolle wants 8 mill a year which is more than the 2 best safeties in the league make(Polamalu and Reed)

Peppers wants 14 mill a year(more than a mill a sack when talking about him)

does anybody really think either guy is gonna get the amount they want?

No one talking about every day jobs.

This is the NFL. These are premium positions. There's only a certian amount that can do what they do.

No ones talking about laying carpet or working in a cubical here.

Rolle's agent will be calling Jerry on Friday. Whether or not Jerry would be interested at that price...I'd say he probably will not be.

I like it that he is aiming high. I think he will end up taking a much lesser deal. He's playing a position that is declining in value. He's the highest rated prospect this year in Free Agency, but teams have some top notch Safeties they can draft instead.

He won't get anywhere near his asking price.

I believe any one of us could ride the bench as well as Jesse Holley.
