I am appalled that they can't, apparantly, actually just deliver the list in a simple format. Not interested in scrolling through their click-inducing format.

Rolling Stone has an absolute vendetta against Dave Matthews Band. The magazine is garbage

Ritchie Blackmore at #50!!!! Wow, I wouldn't expect that from a music industry magazine.

Did anyone actually read the article? The list was voted on by guitarists (who are listed on the first page), not Rolling Stone's editorial staff.

There are some other lists they've done in the past that differed a lot from this one. The methodology of choosing this list probably wouldn't stand up in a statistics class. But you get lots of different approaches. I think Keith Richard is a great rhythm guitar player, but I wouldn't put him in the top ten. But if he was the guitarist that got your started and who you modelled yourself after...maybe you would. And the list of influential guitarists, as opposed to greatest guitarists could be very, very different.

Hendrix was FAAAAARRRR too sloppy a guitarist to be #1. I don't want to see a list of 100 Joe Satriani's, so there has to be some balance between song writing and technical prowess. But Jimi was so far off the mark on actual ability to play the guitar, that he can't reasonably be #1.

The more I read about him, the more I like him....

Great great man. Got to shake his hand around 55 or 56. He'd just gotten off the plane at Daniel Field on his way to Augusta National. Was in a Caddy. He got out and shook all our hands. I was five or six at the time but still remember it. Dirt road one lane red Georgia clay dirt at that.

Part of his problem was he was so stoned all the time. Sky Dog stayed stoned too according to some friends but he sounded pretty good. Different skill set though.
