:eek: Neil Young??? (I can't thumb through whole list), but Neil young??? I can see for his songwriting, but his playing is a total mess as well as his singing. The only thing that makes him somewhat tolerable is the songs are ok. They'd rock if someone with finesse were playing them.

Did Johnnie Marr make the grade? Edit: NM, I see him at 51.
Neil Young ahead of Marr and no Vai? Is this The Onions list?
 
About what you'd expect from Rolling Stone. Tom Morello is laughable at 40 (or really even being on the list). If only James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine (not on the list?) could play like Joni Mitchell. And I know the CC Deville post was a joke, but hey, he's better than any of the Ramones.

Top 20 isn't too bad except for Trucks and Harrison.
 
44 is my favorite number, but Mark Knopfler deserves a MUCH higher rating... the guy is phenomenal...

Tom Morello def deserves a place on the list. He was very innovative with Rage.
 
John Mclaughlin and Richard Thompson in the 60s?? No Michael Hedges, no Steve Tibbetts?? Oh well.

Still, it I can see it being difficult: How do you compare Bo Diddley to Leo Kottke? I can also see them being just wrong. Mostly by reading that list....

Who else would look at a list made by professional guitarists and say it's unreasonable for Hendrix to be #1. :D

It's funny, you have the "greats" and then you have your greatest which can be a vastly different list. On my list, growing up the most influential probably to my music and music I listen too goes like: Hendrix(#1), Clapton, Prince, Eddie Hazel, Morello, Ernie Isley, Jack White,SRV and a slough of blues artist like Albert King, Buddy Guy, and BB. That's obvious not a general consensus, but that is definitely as far as guitarist go, my taste and what I prefer. Hendrix is my favorite, everyone holds no order or rank, as I appreciate them all.

Actually was thinking that when I was reading the bottom of the list that he should be there, that said I hate ASF.
