The funny thing is that Romo has played really well for a long time. However, he had to play from behind for the majority of his career (which is hard to do ask Russell Wilson this year). He has never had a running game or an offensive line this special. He had a solid offensive line in 2007, but he was young and still learning to play the game. The reality is that the team is winning now and all the people who previously had confirmation biases now have to amend their perception of him. I love it!

Perfectly stated. I don't think he's magically gotten better at age 34 coming off the back surgery, he's just been this good for a very long time. He has a lot of thesaurus physical attributes and limitations of Drew Brees, but New Orleans surrounded him with elite OL talent like Evans, Nicks and Grubbs. We finally have a stud interior OL of our own and it is paying dividends in every facet of the game.

Even the defense has benefited, particularly in the 4th quarter.

One area of improvement over last year that may be under appreciated is the conversion rate on 3rd down. Last season it felt like the offense could never convert, but that has been much improved this year. Romo was not quite as clutch on 3rd down as he had been for much of his career. That is certainly not true this year, with great protection, Romo has been deadly when he steps up in the pocket and delivers down the middle of the field.

I don't think a anyone's taking him for granted anymore. If someone is, it may be Cowboy fans. Everyone else around the league seems to slowly but surely be coming to the opinion that with the way guys like Brees are playing....Romo is a top 5 qb in the league this year especially with these weapons. No one ever wanted to see what a Tony Romo lead team that only has to throw 25 to 30 times a game to win would look like.

I'm sorry since none of what Romo has done this season has come in so-called "win or go home" games, this entire thread is invalid.

Yeah he sure has been scarce lol

You can tell the real haters they truly are not happy for the team when romo does well. Others may rag on Romo but they are here win or lose backing the team. I'm looking at you @Zordon!

It's all good Z, this year I'll buy you what you've always wanted for Christmas, a Tony Romo jersey. :D
So when we're making a deep play off run this year you can support your favorite #9 on the team.

*it'll also come with a #88*

Clove is actually coming around, he's getting attached to Romo's lil spin move.

#winning cures all

i'm so sad b/c i have nothing to say back anymore.

Where Romo ranks among QBs this season...

1st in completion percentage (69.2%)
4th-best QB rating (104.7)
3rd-best Total QBR (85.0)
4th-best yards per attempt (8.36)

Oh, and for the poor saps who think QBs win and lose games on their own... he's 1st in wins too.

Gee, what an amazing coincidence that Romo's DOMINATING with a great supporting cast!

Yes, he's always been this good. Yes, you were wrong about him all along.

But I've heard the defense actually isn't playing any better....? :)

It does matter when the rest of the team is playing even football, doesn't it?

I honestly believe 9 is one of the most underrated players in the history of the league.

If Dallas can ever win the big one with him under center I can honestly say it'll be the happiest I have ever been to see an individual player win a championship. It is the only way Romo will ever be completely vindicated of the wildly inaccurate portrayal of his career up to this point by the average football fan.

Every season, Romo seems to have one bad game where he throws multiple interceptions and just plays bad. 5 INTs against Buffalo, 5 INTs against Chicago, 5 INTs against New York, etc.

This year, I hope he got it out of the way in Week 1 and we are looking at a remaining season of dominance and excellent play.

Romo is the bee's knees. The caterpillar's spats even.

On a related note, does it seem like ball placement has been better this year? Romo has always been an accurate passer, but it sometimes seemed like ball placement on a handful of passes a game would be a little off. This year he's been laser sharp accurate.

And people still take this dude for granted? What a monster we have at QB.

He's been awesome and was an absolute surgeon in the 2nd half yesterday. I understand that Murray and the OL have been the story, and they should be for the most part, but Romo has made some INCREDIBLE game-winning/game-saving passes this year. He's been unreal on 3rd down. People who think he's driving a bus because our running game is going haven't really been watching. This whole offense is rolling and Romo has been absolutely great after he got that rust off against SF. If we can get a pass rush going (fingers crossed for D-Law making an impact) we'll be watching something really special this year.

Minus week 1, Romo has been straight fire. I'm loving it.

As mentioned above, if DLaw can make an impact in the pass rushing department, the sky is the limit. Having a healthy Bruce Carter back at Lb'er will also help a great deal. He was playing well before the injury.
