Romo # 91

Without reading the whole thread, here is my 2 cents.

I don't think that #91 is too outrageous if you treat all positions equally. I know that the media will probalbly try and put 20 QBs on the list, but if they were to rank each guy based only on how good he is compared to every other player AT HIS POSITION in the league, then #91 would be okay.

91 is not OK when Tebow is #95.

Casserly said it best. Tebow shouldn't be in the top 200 list.

You know, I respectfully disagree. Even Jay Ratliff reached out to Ray Lewis to get his advice on leadership. Don't ever underestimate the value of leadership. That glue, that constant rock/rocks that keep everything together when things are falling apart. Jason Witten (he is the TE) is probably the closest player I have seen on the Cowboys that exhibit that. I truly believe the other players try, including/especially Tony Romo, but they just do not have it. Leadership is innate, it is not a taught skill.

I really don't think they are overrated. I think they do have the talent. Maybe I am just a homer. Sometimes they need to play above their talent level. It's been a long time since that has happened. Someone needs to get them to do that.

All I needed to know was that you were glad he was our QB and hope we will.suceed with him, this lends credibility to all other opinions you may have of Tony even though I disagree.

That's why a player ranked top 100 is idiotic. It's just a popularity contest. I want an NFL Network top 100.

I want a coaches and scouts Top 100. They're the ones that would really know who is deserving and who isn't. They're the ones that study players in and out each and every day.

This is why I get mad at Jason Witten for not carrying on his back an undersized defensive back for a touchdown against the Jets. Why I get mad at Miles Austin for two incomplete passes that cost us victories against the Giants and Patriots.

These players need to sell out for Tony Romo.

What does this list tell us?

IMHO, it tells us players are basically "fans" like we are and don't necessarily vote reality when they put their votes for the Top 100.

How else can you explain John Kuhn on the list? Listen, as most of you know I watch a fair amount of Packers games.... John Kuhn is a "OK" runner, he is a "OK", receiver, and he is a "OK" blocker. He isn't particularly great at any of them and to boot he is on the field for about maybe 25% of Green Bay's offensive snaps because they spend most of their time with so many WRs + Jermichael Finley on the field.

My theory is that because the Packers are on a bunch of nationally televised games and the guy has a bit of a cult following with everyone loving to yell "Kuuuuuhhhhhhnnnnnnnn" whenever he touches the ball, even the NFL players watching (or even playing against him) fall for it a bit.

John Kuhn is maybe the 300th or 400th best player in the NFL. He is DEFINATELY not the 92... one spot behind Romo...

Just my $0.02 on WHY I think the process is flawed <even though> the players themselves make the selections.

I quickly told him that they didn't make the playoffs either, then he said football is a team sport. And that I'm too high and low on players, either they are great or they suck. Yet he has dogged Tebow this entire month, but then hesitates to say Romo is better. Then he goes on to say that he would pick his top 100 based on contributions to the team. He is a Bears fan, and it isn't Cutler's fault they don't win because of his offensive line, but it's Romo's fault if we don't win because of his offensive line.

LOL. He sounds like a guy that just does not like Romo no matter what. To even entertain the thought of whether Tebow is better than Romo right now is laughable.

the defense did cost us 5 games. so its not all his fault.

should have won that pats game and giants game at home.

That is the biggest error in judgment in relation to the popularity list, from network analysts down to television viewers. It is not a list where each voter is creating a list of 100 players they feel are the best of the best. It is MANY lists, comprising only 20 names PER list, all lumped together. This is seemingly what a lot of people are not comprehending.

It is, in fact, a list which is the by-product of a sampling that is one-fifth its size. It is STRICTLY an inflated popularity contest. It is why everyone will see DeMarcus Ware's name high up on the list. That is because more of his peers will add his name to their limitation of TWENTY choices.

Again, it is a popularity contest--and not an indictment of the player.

What's even funnier is he calls the guys on ESPN and NFLN idiots. We even got into a discussion/argument over Ware versus Freeney. He thinks Freeney contributes more because he spins in sometimes while he rushes. I showed him the difference in tackles and pass defended between Freeney and Ware to show him that Ware is also involved in stopping the run, he just isn't strictly a pass rush guy, and then he called me a stats guy, and there is more to football then stats. I told him he should play fantasy football so he would be forced to look at more teams than just the Bears. He told me fantasy football players don't know anything about football. Well buddy, they know a lot more about other teams' players than you do.
