1st of all I'm a big fan of Romo so this is not a bash Romo thread.
Garrett is growing on me as he progresses but right now I still see him as part of the problem with optimism that he will figure it out and become part of the solution, time will tell as it already has.
PEC: Play Calling, Execution, & Coaching have to be in sync or else talent falls by the wayside.
Ok we got the December woes and the Playoff monkey off our backs, now the new "Knocks" are:
1) Can they come from behind and win against tough teams?
2) Can they make in-game adjustments when getting beat?
3) Can they find an answer for the blitz or while under heavy pressure?
These are challenges and opportunities for growth. The simple answer is fix the O-line and the problem will be solved but there have been teams to go on and win it all with poor O-line play. This is where PEC comes into play and it either gives you an edge or it leaves you at a deficit. I'm eager to see us over come these final hurdles as we make our quest for six in 2010. Of course a nice draft can help in getting us there...
All three are great points.
One thing Garrett needs to do next year, is find the thin balance of having confidence in your guys and trusting your philosophy, or catching them off balance for a big play. Not a trick play, simply deviating from the norm.
If it's 4th and one, do you run it right down their throat, or do you throw the fade? It fails both times, so they're
obviously bad calls.
Personally, I like the fade. Not twice, but I love the fade from the goalline. But it didnt work so we should have run the ball.
However, when the defense knows you're going to run it, and you run into a brick wall, you probably should have run play-action and passed the ball.
Both times, the execution failed, but I like that part about Garrett that he'll take some chances trying to get you off guard.
