I am 100% sure of one thing.

The Vikings had the best overall talent in the NFC this year. They were flat better than us and better than the Saints too. But big plays prevail in determining the outcome.

I'm 100% sure about another thing. Playing at home in New Orleans or Minn is a massive advantage...esp. after a bye to rest up. We gotta figure a way to earn top seed and get our fan base off it's behinds in the playoffs.

Like I said in the OP, this is not a bash Romo thread. Part of the problem was O-line execution, part was play calling, and part was coaching overall. It's just something we need to continue to work on. We had to many games where we were almost completely shut out on offense.

Ok, Cowboys offense got shut out only twice in 2009, or what you can call Shut out. Of that, only Vikings game was clear shut out. And other was maybe GB game. Both games, main reason, OL injuries or not playing well.

You can slice it anyway you want it. Sure Romo can play better and maybe Garrett can call a better game. But without OL playing well, it doesn't matter. ALl of Romo's colapses in December has been mostly when OL colapsed and Defense also failed.

Only time pretty much Eagles were shut out is when they played Cowboys. If not they were most explosive team in NFL. Heck before playing Jets, San Diego was unstoppable. You think Norv Turner doesn't know how to call a game? YOu cannot take one or two games and cherry pick the stats.

Some times team play out of their mind too and some times teams just lay an egg. The only problem I saw really that both Garrett and TOny have to figure out is, scoring more points when in Red Zone for next year. That was the only constant throught the year. Based on both stats and how they ranked in scoring vs yards gained. It was not one or two games, but that was consistent throughout the season. Thats they thing they need to improve on most for next season.

This.

I believe Romo is the highest rated quarterback versus the blitz.
That was Kurt Warner. Romo was the most blitzed.

1st of all I'm a big fan of Romo so this is not a bash Romo thread.
Garrett is growing on me as he progresses but right now I still see him as part of the problem with optimism that he will figure it out and become part of the solution, time will tell as it already has.

PEC: Play Calling, Execution, & Coaching have to be in sync or else talent falls by the wayside.

Ok we got the December woes and the Playoff monkey off our backs, now the new "Knocks" are:

1) Can they come from behind and win against tough teams?
2) Can they make in-game adjustments when getting beat?
3) Can they find an answer for the blitz or while under heavy pressure?

These are challenges and opportunities for growth. The simple answer is fix the O-line and the problem will be solved but there have been teams to go on and win it all with poor O-line play. This is where PEC comes into play and it either gives you an edge or it leaves you at a deficit. I'm eager to see us over come these final hurdles as we make our quest for six in 2010. Of course a nice draft can help in getting us there...

All three are great points.

One thing Garrett needs to do next year, is find the thin balance of having confidence in your guys and trusting your philosophy, or catching them off balance for a big play. Not a trick play, simply deviating from the norm.

If it's 4th and one, do you run it right down their throat, or do you throw the fade? It fails both times, so they're obviously bad calls.

Personally, I like the fade. Not twice, but I love the fade from the goalline. But it didnt work so we should have run the ball.

However, when the defense knows you're going to run it, and you run into a brick wall, you probably should have run play-action and passed the ball.

Both times, the execution failed, but I like that part about Garrett that he'll take some chances trying to get you off guard.

Rodgers impressed me more this season in that dept and I didn't even like the guy but it was clear as day how he came along. Those charts don't tell the full story. Green Bay put up more points in one playoff game than we did in two...

4 Games where? I don't consider Denver and Skins shut out. THey scored when needed to against Washington. Denver, were miscues, nothing to do with not able to move the ball etc.

GB and Minny were the only games where they couldn't really move the ball consistently or didn't look like they could score. To be perfect, Minny was the only game they looked incapable of scoring.

Redzone is totally different thing, but lets not mix things up to support a point.

By the amount of yards gained we should have scored 31 points per game rather than 22. We consistently underperformed from a scoring standpoint. We moved the ball well.
