It's a match made in PR heaven: A wholesome country singer with a forthcoming album falls for a dreamy-eyed actor on a hot new TV show. That appears to be the romantic scenario playing out for Carrie Underwood and resident "Gossip Girl" eye candy Chace Crawford, who were reportedly spied getting up close and personal in New York a few days back.
Us Weekly says the Southern squeezes stepped out together on Oct. 12, sharing a romantic meal at Nobu before moving on to hot spot Marquee, where they quaffed champagne and polished each other's tonsils in a corner booth.
"They were all over each other," a spy tells the mag.
The following evening, Carrie, 24, and Chace, 22, held hands during a double-dinner date with the actor's "Gossip" co-star Ed Westwick (per Us) before engaging in some more surreptitious digit touching at the Rose Bar, reports People.
"At one point, they were holding hands, off to the side of the table," an eyewitness tattles to the magazine, "like they didn't want people to see."
A mole tells Us the squeaky clean couple have been seeing each other since July, a romance that sparked not long after the blond warbler called it quits with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
Their first meeting isn't exactly a story to share with the grandkids, however: Chace and his perfectly highlighted swoopy bangs apparently moseyed over to Carrie at Los Angeles nightclub Hyde.
"He is a country fan, and she thinks he is so funny and sweet," enthuses the insider to Us. "It's total love."
Underwood, whose personal life is conveniently picking up tabloid steam just as she's about to embark on a publicity blitz for her about-to-drop album, wasn't shy about playing up Crawford's finer (if not deeper) points during a recent chat with People.
"He's really cute," she gushed. "I've met him and he seems like a really nice guy. He's got cool hair, he's a nice height and he just has beautiful blue eyes."
As for Romo, she downplays the seriousness of their relationship in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, going so far as to deny they were ever really a twosome.
"
At one point it seemed like that's where it was headed, but point blank, he is about football," she reveals to the magazine. "I don't know if it's that I'm not quite his type or whatever, but I don't think he's at the point in his life where he would be willing to sacrifice football. He hated so much that people thought that he was paying more attention to me and that was causing him to not do well."
SACRIFICE FOOTBALL!! BURN HER AT THE STAKE!!!!
