Romo critics were right according to Jerry Jones

Jerry Jones stated in a recent interview said that a quaterback can have a great passer rating and great stats and still lose the ballgame. This is what he has been criticized for years. To me he is a notch below an elite quaterback and a notch above bus driver. This doesnt make him a bad quaterback but we might need to address this position in the draft.

I think you need to rethink the term "notch." There are several notches in between elite and bus driver lol

And, fwiw, if a QB has great stats, then he probably played pretty well. Wasn't it the Giants game two years ago where he had the highest QB rating of all time in a loss or something ridiculous like that?

I was looking for a link and couldnt locate it but it was played on 105.3 The fan in Dallas. In this legue you arr judged by wins and losses. Which is why Eli and Flacco are considered winners by their peers.

I'd need to see the quote before commenting on it, one way or another, but I would hope it's common knowledge at this point that the play of the QB is not synonymous with the play of the team. There are other factors in a football game that matter beyond just how effectively your QB plays. Turnovers, special teams scores, red zone efficiency, and pass defense being among the most important.

This is a good point, that winners are considered winners by their peers when they win.

I seriously doubt Jerry said anything even remotely like that. Jerry has said many moronic things but I've never heard him stoop to something as idiotic as QB wins. He was probably just pointing out that stats don't tell the story, which is obviously true. Jerry has always been Romo supporter #1 (hundred million).

True on team play but i think what sticks out in peoples minds is the many times that when an important game is on the line a turnover is made or he doesnt deliver.

He wasnt calling out Romo when he made the statement. It stating that critics of Rkmo have been saying this about him for years. So he will always have defenders no matter what but until he wins he will always be critcized. I still think we need to draft a QB in the draft which is how Green Bay progressed after Farve left.

i think the fact that Romo's stats are so good, and we constantly have playmakers on our offense yet can't produce more wins, is proof that the system is the problem.
I never see WR's in motion, i never see bunch sets where its difficult to determine where Dez is gonna be, i think this offensive system isn't really a good fit for this team. I don't think its romo, or murray or even bad play calling. i think its just a bad system that needs to be replaced.

and what does the comment have to do with drafting a QB? Jones was not suggesting that and of course critics will say what they choose. I do agree at some point Dallas should look to draft a QB to groom behind Romo. I would hate to be in the situation we were in when Aikman retired where we start playing musical QB.

I'll add to that. Put me on record as saying that a running back can also put up great numbers and his team still lose the game. Case in point is Adrian Peterson. AP need to understand that its not all about stats. He hasn't learned how to will his team to victory. The Vikings should address the RB position in the draft.
