Adios Tony Romo. Loved watching you when you were on; hated the untimely turnovers early in your career. I'm happy to see him gone, despite all he did for us.
  1. Released because no one would give us a moon pie for him.
  2. Prediction...his phone will be very quiet this week. Teams wouldn't mind having him as a backup, but most will not want to pay him more than 6-7 million due to injury risk and age.
  3. Even Denver and Houston will require a lot of nerve and Romo signing a cheap contract to compete for the starting job. We see what he was and that brief drive to end the season; other teams see a brittle QB who's been hurt badly by routine sacks behind a great OL. They see a player that they could lose in preseason or at any minute.
  4. Teams will wait and let Tony sit; this won't be a bidding war tomorrow. After a week or two or even more, the lowball offers will arrive, not to start, but to compete. Tony will have to decide how badly he wants to play, and retirement is still NOT out of the question.
Hello Dak. The future is here, and it's bright. A kid who understands the game, who has the mental toughness, smarts, leadership, and work ethic.
  1. Will 2017 be better than 2016 for him? Maybe yes, maybe no...he still has much to learn, and there will be growing pains. It isn't likely that his TD/INT ratio will be that good again, maybe not ever. But that doesn't mean he won't be improving.
  2. As Dak gets more comfortable, more confident and knowledgeable, he will also get more aggressive. Sometimes that will result in turnovers; sometimes it will be the long TDs we saw in preseason. That's the game.
  3. Most importantly, his teammates clearly believe in him, and the coaches trust him, and he's surrounded by a strong unit.

Finally, I'm sure fans will grow impatient as we wait out free agency, strapped a bit by the cap. Those who claim the cap isn't as reported and we can do whatever we want are dreaming. We need to suck it up and clear Romo's salary off the books before we can move towards the middle of the pack in cap space. NY signed Marshall....omg, there will be a meltdown if they also sign Bennett.

We will be careful and prudent in free agency; we will sign second and third tier players who give us draft flexibility, and then we will continue to build through the draft and develop our younger players. We are no longer in the "every year is closer to the end of the Romo window" era. The future is bright, and the Cowboys are finally building a team and a philosophy that can maintain competitiveness and hopefully greatness.
  1. You have to let guys who've already played their best ball move on for paydays that outweigh their contributions.
  2. You have to move away from progress stoppers and give younger players with promise a chance to prove what they are and will be.
  3. You have to use free agency within your salary structure to position yourself for the draft and occasionally take a chance on a difference maker who fits your schemes.
  4. You have to draft the right players at the right spots and hit more often than you miss.
  5. You have to develop your players to get the most out of their talents.
I'm really thankful for Romo. Romo was great. Romo was fragile. Romo is on the downside. Romo is gone. I wish him the best, but smart teams get rid of guys before the perfect time, not after. I love Witten, but I really hope this is his final season. Serviceable, yes, but he's getting worse each year, not better. His time is also upon us. The NFL is a young man's game.

Romo wont get more than 6-7 million a season?

And if he does, do you like your crow warm or cold?

The big loser in this will be the team that doesn't sign Romo. The team that signs him has a chance. The team that doesn't sign him has no chance. Denver and Houston are not going to win anything with the qbs that they have now. The team that doesn't sign him was flat out stupid for not trading for him.

Yep...Tony has a decent game for him as a Texan against the Pats in the playoffs they beat them...instead they had Osweiller who was a dumpster fire

If Romo goes out and does the unthinkable, how fast before the Cowboys should gut everyone?

Here's wishing the best for Romo, if the Cowboys don't win the ring next year, I hope he does.

Go Cowboys :starspin:
I hope we play him for the ring and let things play out from there. If I am Jacksonville I would throw my hat in the ring. This year they would go to the playoffs, year 2 (if he is healthy) Romo would take them to the SB.

We shall see. Personally, I think Romo is made of paper mache, and I don't see any team wanting to make him their starter with starter's money. The odds against him even surviving a basic sack is a bad bet. Even Cowboys fans expect him to lie on the field after every tackle. We shall see just how much interest there is in him and how much any team is willing to pay him. All I know is my expectations for the Cowboys would be very low if he was the starter.

He should retire...I'll be happy to eat crow if he has a decent 2017 season. I don't wish him injury or an ugly end to his career. I just see nothing but more failure and injuries.

If healthy Romo is a top 10 QB in the NFL
Lol at even the thought that teams won't be clamoring for him

Glennon will still be around in two years to see the end of his contract. Glennon would see more competition on the market than Romo. Romo is only a fit on 2-3 teams. Glennon could fit on about 20.

Romo is likely looking at a 2 year deal with incentives, the guy is 37 and hasn't played football in two years.
