Quarterbacks don't win championships. Football Teams win championships.

Eli is a good QB albeit inconsistent at times. Id say Tony is the same way with the only difference being, Eli has a ring which is afterall what its all about right?
Tony's better is better than Eli's better

and it's not even close

Romo 12,214 yards....90 TDs and 50 INTs

Manning 9,933 yards....67 TDs and 46 INTs

Romo's numbers are in 4 fewer Games. He missed 3 last year and the Giants haven't had their bye yet. Eli's been dang durable though.
are you sure it's only 4 cause Eli started the last game of 2005 and Romo didn't get to start till I believe the 6th game of the 2006 season?

I added up the numbers from week 7 of 2006(when tony became the man) till now. Eli hasn't missed a game in that time and Romo has missed 3 but the Giants haven't had a bye yet so by my calculations it's 4 games, but i could be drunk er wrong.

Romo would have made that Giants team better.

Funny.

B/c on the day they played head to head in the playoffs, Eli was the better QB. 132 passer rating for Eli vs. 65 for Tony.

Sounds like Tony might have made them a little worse....

Again, I'd take Tony over Eli any day of the week. But folks need to shut up about him being better until he puts up some solid playoff performances as Eli did.

The whole "who's better" thing takes on a grade school flavor anyway. Stupid IMO. Who's better is decided on the field.

Mr. Contrarian strikes again!

If folks want to make posts crying about how some friend of theirs loves Eli, then I do have to take it down to their level. It is is tiresome though, as the folks making these posts clearly have no game.

Can't people post on something more original? How about a thread on how the RW trade was bad? Maybe we can bash Hamlin or call Barbie a bust some more?

Have we run out of intelligent topics on this board?

Purely as a QB... Romo is better. And there's really no argument to be made the other way.

And Romo is 4-3 in his career vs. Eli. That's despite a defense that's outplayed ours pretty consistently over the past 3 seasons.

I don't like the ring argument. I think Romo could have won if he was quarterback of the Giants that year. Heck, he might have even got them through easier than Eli.

It's not like Eli has played lights out in the playoffs. The year they won the Super Bowl, he did not carry them, nor did he contribute to them winning all that much. He played mistake free football. That's admirable and good out of a quarterback, but no one should act like he's the reason they won.

His defensive line carried him through the playoffs to the Super Bowl. He had that touchdown drive in the Super Bowl, I'll give him that. However, I will contend that was mostly luck.

Like someone else said earlier: Eli Manning is 4-3 in the playoffs. His lone four wins came that Super Bowl year. Every other year he's been one and done.

Including last year, after being the number one seed in the NFC and losing their first playoff game. Sound familiar? His passer rating last year in that playoff game? 40.7

This thread happens every 2-3 weeks it seems.

Romo might have the edge in overall statistics, but Romo falls flat on his face down the stretch...and Eli does not. That's really all the difference you need.

Can anyone please post the stats for the both since romo's first game starting....

I have this homer giants fan who is hard headed as all get out and the guy sucks eli off everytime I see him... He went as far as saying he would rather have eli over DREW BREES hahahaha i know... His only argument is eli has a ring and romo has'nt won a big game and the newest fluke he came up with is romo and delhomme are on the same level :lmao2: so please someone post the stats so i can shut him up

dude I JUST had this debate with my good friend who bleeds Giant blue. Of course he says "Eli has a ring." I said oh how predictable but so does Brad Johnson, Mark Rypien, Jeff Hostetler, Doug Williams, Trent Dilfer, Jim Plunkett, Joe Thiesman and, Earl Morrall, so dont even go there.

Romo is 4-2 in his career vs. Eli, as a starter, including playoffs.

If you added Eli's previous games it would only look worse for him.
