yea guys....I was just comparing skill sets...not who is the better QB.
Look NE has:
* more talent
* better coaching
* better scouting
* better schemes
This all allows Brady to just sit back there and pick teams apart. I think Brady is one of the most protected QB I have watched - their offensive line is amazing in their pass protection. You throw in a very good defense and Randy Moss and Brady will put up huge numbers. I am not discounting Brady play...I am just saying he has enourmous support around him. I have watched alot of brady but I have seen Tony Romo makes plays over the past 16 games that I haven't seen Tom Brady make in his entire career. You put Romo is New Englands system and he in just as good...thats just how I see it.

who says they have better coaching, scouting or schemes? Talent yes.

Brady is great, there are no two ways about it.

all these comparisons are an exercise in futility.

Brady 3 Super Bowl Rings

Brady 30 TD's and 2 inters in 2 games.

I love Romo and put him in top 5 in NFL. But He has a long way to go to be in Manning or Brady strata....

Can anyone ponit to ONE, just one single great play Brady has made this year? He's a really good QB and all, but I have not really seen him make any plays. He hasn't done anything spectacular. He's just sat back there with all the time in the world and throws 4 or 5 yard passes all day. And if he's not doing that then he's just throwing the ball up for grabs. And we've seen that IF he gets pressured, especially if he gets touched, he wilts.

If Brady were on the Cowboys they are 5-2 at best. If Romo is on the Pats, they're still 8-0.

Not saying Romo is better, but Romo has taken things on his shoulders at times and made a lot of great plays that very few if any QBs would make. I haven't seen Brady really do anything any good QB wouldn't do.

Here's a clue -- top receivers for Brady by year Brown - Brown - Branch - Givens - Branch - Caldwell

The WR upgrade isn't the whole story but it is a big part of it.
I think that's where you start to look, but he's playing unbelievable football -- well beyond his previous years, regardless of who is around him.

Love Romo to death but I wouldn't be comparing Tom Brady of this year to ANYONE.

Including P Manning.

He is absolutely playing on anotehr planet right now.

(I agree Theo, Brady hasn't been anyhwere near this good in the past, I don't even beleive its all about his new WRs, though it helps)

No doubt. He's a freaking stud. But the supporting cast helps. Moss is really the guy I look to. Motivated, he made Jeff George look great.

I remember when people would joke that all Culpepper ever did was just throw it as high and far as he could. When Moss couldn't really duplicate his success in Oakland, I figured that line of thought was discredited. But watching him now, literally all Brady has to do is chunk the ball in the air. Moss can just come down with it, wherever it's thrown.

Still, it's not the deep ball that is impressive about Brady this year. He's been freakishly accurate and quick on the decision-making. You just have to think it won't last. But even after we rattled him all first half, he just came back like a machine.

Romo, as of RIGHT NOW, has started exactly one season of Pro Football.
He's the Third rated passer in that span of time, the last 16 games.
That's pretty darn good, and anybody would take that.
He's shown GREAT intestinal stuff by not allowing that snafu in Seattle last year to become bigger than it was. He's brushed it off like an old pro and is continuing to carry on, becoming a good (if not great) QB.

But right now, he has a "younger Farve" written all over him. For all he brings to the game, he also has that side that could just "blow it up" at this stage. He has that youthful "I can pull this out" mindset, which I'd rather he have than not. But that "Farve" thinking has, and will get him in trouble as he matures.
His mistakes are BIG and atrocious. Rookie stuff. He's a tough guy to gauge because when he's good, he all you could ask for in a QB. Good arm. Good reads. Accurate. Has a "never say die" attitude. He's good natured, positive, and gives you something to believe in.
But, that very disposition HAS worked and WILL work against him until he reigns it in.

Brady, on the other hand, has NOTHING in common with Romo. His development, and ultimate Championship pedigree hasn't exhibited anything like Romo's disposition. Not better. Not worse. Just different. This guy has been "Montana COOL" since the get go. He's not given to emotion. He's not given to high HIGHS and low LOWS. He's just a robot. A pretty cool robot, but a robot. He NEVER waivers or varies. You know what your gonna' get every game, every snap.

Say whatever about "Brady had the benefit of a great line an great team" all you want. But, if he were a Dallas Cowboy the last 7 years, we'd have a ring or two by now in that span. Great teams are built around guys like Brady et al..................not vice versa. Great teams do no "evolve" around a guy, and suddenly he becomes "great". Uh uh. Great players elevate those around them to their level.
Like it or not, Brady is already a "hall of famer". If Troy got in with three rings and only decent numbers, then Brady is already a lock.
It's unfair and way to early to compare Romo with Brady. I believe Romo IS INDEED our future. Will his name ever be up there on the Ring with Staubach and Aikman? We'll see..............................

BRADY> ROMO

Brady is the best QB in the league, so I don't feel too bad about having a guy not far down the list.

Compared to the Tom Brady of any other year, I think you've got a legit argument.

Compared to the Tom Brady of 2007, not even close.

If Glenn comes back healthy i want to see how Romo does then because at that point the WR corps are comparable. Hurd is a spare.

Owens/Glenn/Crayton/Witten versus Moss/Welker/Stallworth/Watson

or

Your high.. Your smoking the herb.

Cool Tom is in a league of his own. Brady throws a better deep ball because he has the arm to get it down field. Romo has very avergae arm strength, has issues stretching the field and underthrowing WR's

you take away Brady and suddenly those passes that allow Welker to gain 10 extra yards are not so perfectly positioned. The guy is good and extremely accurate. He's mobile in the pocket, just slow outside of it.

Romo's good but I don't think you can compare him to Brady until he can at least *get* to a Superbowl.

This is a point that no one seems to expound on. Granted, any QB is less effective under pressure, but Brady becomes absolutely useless if a defender puts a hand on him, very prone to fumbling when hit or even touched. The key is continued pressure. We got to him early, then tailed off. It's easier said than done against a good OL. His line gets away with a lot holding, but I guess when you win SBs, you get more breaks.

Romo is awesome but still a good ways away from Brady. Brady is Robo-QB right now. A machine. The Pats play calling and Brady's execution is masterful.

Again, Bellichek brought in an extra tight-end to protect him, because the pressure was affecting the nature of the offense. It was Wes Walker that ended up doing the real damage.

Yuo want a 30 yard pass on the money whenb I game is on the line...You take Brady every day of the week.

Last year, against the Colts, he threw an interception, forcing it into clear double-coverage. Against the Chargers, he threw four interceptions, and the only reason they scored is because of the tremendous field position they had, when the Chargers cornerback fumbled, after Brady threw the interception. Even when they won the Super Bowl against the Panthers, the Panthers QB shanked a kick-off which is unheard of.

If you take away the underneath, Brady is an above-average QB at best.

I dont know that Brady is necessarily playing on another planet.... Its the MOSS factor.... look at Minny with ANY QB with Moss... Cunngham/all star year, Johnson/all star year, Culpepper/all star years.... never to see an all star year again.....

Moss changes everything

bad comparison since they're different types of QBs. both have "it" but very different circumstances.

the only edges i give Romo at this time is escapability, pocket presence, quick release and grit. quick release imho is overrated and useless if you make bad decisions and don't protect the ball (tony needs ALOT of WORK protecting the ball).

Brady is overrated in the same sense Troy was... put Troy on another team and his career would have been shorter (injury) and less superbowls. i'd say the same with Brady as he has forever to stand back and throw. This year he is chucking up bad passes to a doubleteamed MOSS for TDs. But both are perfect QBs for their system/coaches at the time. Both HOFers, lets hope Tony is a HOFer one day.

Lets also hope Romo reels in the mistakes and is the perfect QB for the Boys in 2007 & beyond, and that we hold a few Lombardis instead of brady :)
