Romo, as of RIGHT NOW, has started exactly one season of Pro Football.
He's the Third rated passer in that span of time, the last 16 games.
That's pretty darn good, and anybody would take that.
He's shown GREAT intestinal stuff by not allowing that snafu in Seattle last year to become bigger than it was. He's brushed it off like an old pro and is continuing to carry on, becoming a good (if not great) QB.
But right now, he has a "younger Farve" written all over him. For all he brings to the game, he also has that side that could just "blow it up" at this stage. He has that youthful "I can pull this out" mindset, which I'd rather he have than not. But that "Farve" thinking has, and will get him in trouble as he matures.
His mistakes are BIG and atrocious. Rookie stuff. He's a tough guy to gauge because when he's good, he all you could ask for in a QB. Good arm. Good reads. Accurate. Has a "never say die" attitude. He's good natured, positive, and gives you something to believe in.
But, that very disposition HAS worked and WILL work against him until he reigns it in.
Brady, on the other hand, has NOTHING in common with Romo. His development, and ultimate Championship pedigree hasn't exhibited anything like Romo's disposition. Not better. Not worse. Just different. This guy has been "Montana COOL" since the get go. He's not given to emotion. He's not given to high HIGHS and low LOWS. He's just a robot. A pretty cool robot, but a robot. He NEVER waivers or varies. You know what your gonna' get every game, every snap.
Say whatever about "Brady had the benefit of a great line an great team" all you want. But, if he were a Dallas Cowboy the last 7 years, we'd have a ring or two by now in that span. Great teams are built around guys like Brady et al..................not vice versa. Great teams do no "evolve" around a guy, and suddenly he becomes "great". Uh uh. Great players elevate those around them to their level.
Like it or not, Brady is already a "hall of famer". If Troy got in with three rings and only decent numbers, then Brady is already a lock.
It's unfair and way to early to compare Romo with Brady. I believe Romo IS INDEED our future. Will his name ever be up there on the Ring with Staubach and Aikman? We'll see..............................
