Romo: I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for Drew

David Carr did not look happy when he was benched yesterday no player is going to be happy about it

Yeah...the media kept saying what a "class" guy Bledsoe is...I didn't see that...I saw a guy looking fairly disinterested...

I was impressed with Romo saying what he did about Bledsoe.

Yes, he looked disinterested every time he was clapping after a touchdown and congratulating the offense.

And when he ran up to Romo and gave him a hug after they scored .....

Bledsoe is all class ...... may be a coach one day.

I believe Bledsoe wanted to stay warm and he is handling everything like a true professional that he is......I appreciate what Drew has done for us!

He should go into the HOF with the numbers he has put up!

yeah, Romo really struggled in that press conference to say something nice about Bledsoe. Review the tape...he was trying very hard not to make Bledsoe look bad.

Bledsoe needs off this team pronto!
my nomination for worst post of the day (but i'm assuming Juke won't make any Cassius Clay analogies today about Tuna ROTFLMAO) :)

Exactly. In the case of Carr he will get a chance next week against the Giants to start and in large part because of the investment Houston has in him and he is still fairly young. In Bledsoe case he was never going to be our future only the guy playing until the future was ready. None the less Bledsoe is a competitor and no competitor will ever be happy about getting benched

This is a complete non-issue. Drew's already replied that he doesnt agree with the decision, but it's done, and now he just wants to help the team win. End of story.
If Drew's pressed into service and thrust back in in an emergency, I'd bet they'll be plenty of fans giving him some love.

What 1st overall pick and 14 year vet QB wants to be standing on the sidelines while his replacement is playing the game?

Geez...people act like a guy should be full of joy.

However he was there and knows his role.

He does not have to be full of joy, but he does not have to be a pain and cause trouble.

So far he has said the right thing and in doing so preventing trouble and that is good enough IMO.

You are dead on...I think that drew has handled this as well as possible. He was honest about the fact that he is unhappy being on the bench, which is very admirable IMO. And I think that he has been very mature and classy in the way he has handled it, generally speaking.

LOL

got that right!

Drew's horrible performance on the field led directly to Romo starting.

And what's up with Bledsoe wearing that coat on the sideline?

was it REALLY THAT cold???

I think he is so ashamed of himself, the coat just gave him an excuse to hide.

Instead of a star on the back of that jacket, it should have a big "L" for Loser...that's the way he is behaving now.

I don't think he is sincere in wanting to help Tony based on what I have seen on the sidelines.

What do u guys think?

This is from a thread titled "Report From Charlotte" by lurkercowboy posted about an hour ago. He was ACTUALLY at the game.

QUOTE:"The rowdies were also making fun of Bledsoe wearing his coat. Honestly, it wasn’t that cold." KEYWORD: Honestly...Besdsore DID NOT NEED TO BE WEARING THAT COAT!!!

Bledsoe is a schmuck for wearing that jacket to hide behind it!
We don't need a selfish, I am so hurt type of crybaby on the sidelines.

When will some of you get your heads out of ...the sand.

It is what it is.

Don't think for one minute that his behavior doesn't bother Parcells and the team.

Haven't any of you played organized football before? You know exactly what I am talking about...TEAM CHEMISTRY.

Bedsore needs to grow up or get out!

I think any bashing of Bledsoe for anything beyond his performance is just silly. One could easily turn that right back on Romo who was seen smiling and chatting it up with T.O. on the sideline while the Cowboys were getting the crap beat out of them, partly due to Bledsoe's performance. It would be easy to say he was a little slimmy to be slinking around in the background constantly talking to T.O., being a politician for his future cause, but to suggest that would be small and unfair.

To say anything negative about Bledsoe is equally small...I take Tony at his word that Bledsoe has treated him fairly and helped him over the past two years, even if it wasn't in the midst of his own misery on that Monday night he was benched...to expect more of a competitor is equally silly. Try benching Roy Williams the next time he has a coverage meltdown and see if he's standing on the sidelines giving advice to the kid who takes his place.

I think Bledsoe will be fine...no, I don't think he had that coat on to hide...he's the only player on the entire sideline who's never going to step on the field unless there's an injury...Romo is now the man...hopefully he gives us plenty more of what we saw on Sunday...hopefully people will be fair to him when he has his first bad game, and he will...they all do...it's time to stop looking for things to attack and in this situation...they're both professionals.

"Cassius Clay" huh?

That about says it all.

Didn't you give me garbage about my comment that this wasn't the same coach I followed in NY for years?

Hmmmm...did you happen to hear the broadcasters last night talking about how many people had called Parcells to tell him he didn't seem like the coach they knew?

I noticed how that's missing from your comments.

Shocking.

Then again, retention isn't great among your kind.

Oh yeah, I'd love having just Romo and Crayton for QB's...I don't think so.

Romo wasn't the guy that was benched.

It is a double whammy for Drew as he knows he might not get another shot to start in the NFL and it is hard to give up the game he has been a starter in for the last oh 20 years easily.

He didn't just lose his job, he might have lost his career.

I saw him talking to Romo during the game, he seemed to be helping him as much as possible.

OH, so you're to be a happy professional and support the other guy when you get benched after 14 years, but if you're the inexperienced young guy who wants the other guy's job, then it's okay to slink around the sidelines palling it up with guys you think will support your cause?

You can argue this any way you like, but I'll tell you from history you're wrong. Staubach and Morton didn't support each other or even talk to each other much, and I saw them both benched on numerous times.

Romo is going to help us win games...we need Bledsoe as he's the only guy besides Testiverde that could even come in and run the plays if Romo goes down.

Hmmmm... I heard Madden say Romo had a release like Cool Joe too. Ugh. Tuna must have had a miraculous recovery, as so bummed and depressed and lethargic he managed to get his team to eek out a 35-14 road win against a legitimate playoff team.

Either way that is just opinion and speculation. OTOH the analogy of comparing a prize fighter to a head coach is beyond silly. :)
